This site is a generally good site for Catholic apologetics. However, do beware because they seem to have some radical traditionalist stuff on the site such as attacks against the Ordinary Form of the Mass, also known as the Novus Ordo Mass which started with Vatican II. All of the other material on the site seems to be excellent in nature.

I'm not a protestant, but the average one would see most of these 'refutations' as pointless nitpicking. In many cases the author of this site seems to be oblivious to what protestants believe and is attacking a straw man. Luther and Calvin come under numerous personal attacks although few major groups today even claim to be direct followers of either. Their argument for the Trinity was literally amusing. I know it sounds unkind to say that, but I can think of no other wording. First off, they use a trinitarian Bible to "prove" the doctrine. Do you think it's fair if a Protestant uses a protestant Bible to "refute" Catholic teachings? Many of these verses under "Jesus is God:Biblical Proofs" are simply Non Sequiturs that don't prove anything at all, such as Matt 10:40 ; John 5:26 (in which the fact that the Father GAVE Jesus life is somehow seen as proving Jesus to be God) ; and John 7:29, etc. I'll focus on the somewhat plausible ones for want of space. ===They cite Matt 4:7 (using the word "tempt", contradicting the NAB reading) and assume Jesus is speaking in the 3rd person for some reason. He is actually making a quotation, so he can't really use any other construction. ==John 8:58 (the "I AM" one) comes up a lot. The problem here is that to say Jesus is "I AM" is to say that he is the Father. According to Ex 3:14, 16, "I AM" is the Father of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. According to Acts 3:13 (where Peter is speaking) this God "glorified his son Jesus," and 2 Peter 1:17 (where he takes up the matter again) says that Jesus was glorified by "God the Father." Unless Jesus is God the Father, Jesus is not 'I AM.' ==John 10:30-33 has the Jews saying that Jesus claimed to be God. This only shows what the Jews accused him of, not what he said. In that same section they accuse Jesus of breaking the Law (which he never did). ==John 10:38 was rather odd, since John 14:20 says "I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you" Does this prove that Jesus' disciples are God? ==JOHN 14:7-10 (and 12:44-45) initially seem compelling, but are actually specious as arguments for the 'deity of Christ', since 2 Cor 4:4 calls him "the image of God" Heb 1:2 says Jesus is "the figure of his substance" (or as the Catholic footnote explains the verse, he is, "the express image, and most perfect resemblance") How can he be the image, figure, and 'resemblance' (wonderful phrasing) of God, and yet also be God? It makes more sense that the two scriptures in John be understood in some other way, i.e., that Jesus "is the image of God," not actually God. ==John 1:1 ; 20:28, can both be fairly easily understood in light of the above alone without being seen as any real argument for the trinity, but it may also be noted that John 10:34-36 says there technically "are" many gods, but 'one God the Father and one Lord Jesus Christ.' What's more, Jesus is ONLY Lord and Christ because GOD made him such, not by his own power or merit, as Acts 2:36 shows. ==at COLOSSIANS 1:15-19 they go to great lengths to nitpick over the meaning of the word "firstborn" while missing two facts, 1) Jesus is quite explicitly referred to as a creature in this verse, i.e., a created being. 2) Revelation 3:14 calls him "the beginning of the creation of God." This DOES mean "first-created" even if the other verse can be argued not to. (It should be noted that I have provided an additional scripture as context, while they provide (no doubt staunchly trinitarian) lexicons and rabbinic tradition, both unsourced.) Considering that at 1 Cor 8:5, 6 all things were made "by [i.e. διά-‘through’] him" Jesus' existing before all creation does not really require that he be either creator or uncreated, nor does is allow for him to be such. He was the means or channel of creation. Matt 12:17, 18 refers to Jesus as being God's servant, which would be entirely in line with such a role. I wouldn't suggest using this site if your intent is do do anything by preach to the choir.
