The entire site is malware. No matter what you download from here you get Trojans, Adware, Spyware, and unwanted toolbars and all kinds of malicious software. I've gotten about 100 viruses from downloading just 3 things from there! NEVER go on cnet!

A promoter of rogue software and pushes malware installs such as conduit on users' PCs. All users should use extreme care when downloading from cnet download.com. It is advisable to use a very good antivirus program if you are to download anything from here as cnet does not seem to test for viruses and malware anymore, either.

This site has gone down hill. It was always the place to go to download software. But now you must be very careful when downloading software because they trick you into installing adware and toolbars you don't want

Distributes software like passshow which is a malignant PUP. You really don't want this on your computer.

Scummy site that packages adware/information loggers like Conduit search toolbar with their downloads. You download anything from this site at your own risk. Make sure the computer you are using to download from the site doesn't process any sensitive information.

The free software is actually trial software that is only mentioned at the end of the "I Agree" form which most people don't read. It is also difficult to un-install it.

***** just keeps getting worse and worse. You used to be able to opt out of their malware, but I defy anyone to download ANYTHING from this site without picking up Conduit. The fact that WOT gives the largest pusher of malware on the planet is incomprehensible to me.

They have a proprietary downloader which installs conduit search protect, which is spyware. They also started bundleing downloads with other malware from the infamous Spigot, LLC and a yahoo toolbar. You can opt of of the malware if you run an 'advanced' installation, but conduit installs regardless and you are not notified that it happened. It tries to play itself off as an antivirus.

My Vipre internet security repeatedly prevents me from opening CNET downloads. If it does that it's for a good reason.

CNET, once a reliable mainstream site, now offers downloads wrapped in dangerous malware. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Worse, Symantec products -- for some reason -- consistently fail to pick up on this.

It used to be good, but then Cnet shot themselves in the foot and did this. The stupid Cnet Downloader, which will download possible malware, and PUPs, even if you tell it not to. I have seen various examples of them allowing PUPs and malicious programs to be downloaded on their site.
