Don't know if the site is a scam or not, as I refuse to pay to get information freely available on the net if you search for it. Just because they want you to pay, doesn't make it a scam. That's why I'm rating it useless.

I find it ridiculous that people complain about this site. The "experts" are members of the site who collect points for helping others. To stay a member for FREE, all you need do is contribute to a problem (equivalent 1.5 answers per 2 months) that a fellow member has posted and requested help with. I have used the site frequently and the level of expertise "to a specific question" that i ask is second to none. If the site asks those who are NOT WILLING to contribute and help others, to (god forbid) pay and help to keep the site up (bearing in mind that this is a business after all) then i dont have a problem with it. If the answer to a persons question is to simply point them to another resource (free or not), then whats the problem with that, as it has satisfied the problem that has been asked. The fact that Google ranks these pages so highly is a totally different kettle of fish, someone ask Google to change their algorithm... instead of penalizing a site that is supporting 1000s upon 1000s of IT professionals.

If you go to all the trouble of signing up for a free account so that you can "see the answer at the bottom of the page", you learn that you have now asked one question and you don't get another one for a month, unless you pay them money for a "premium membership".

I have used this site for years, alongside all the free support sites and MS's own support via technet. Many times it has provided the QUICKEST result. I run a small IT business and we can come across any type of problem. EE often gives us the quickest RELIABLE answer. For the price we would consider it a bargain. Stop your whining - OK - you want everything for free. Other people want speed and quality and are quite happy to pay for it. This applies to ANY product or service. There is NO SCAM here - just some rather pathetic individuals who hate paying for anything. If you've come here for advice I would suggest you ignore comments from these individuals. They undermine the credibility of the WOT

Incredible that McAfee certifies a site dedicated to spam and phishing.

Just let people see the answers. Your site sucks!

I have been a member on this site for years, and have found that the others on this site are quite dedicated to assist in helping you find a resolution. I often check google first, and if I can't find the answer there, I refer to experts-exchange.com. I have also participated in resolving dozens of issues. I like it because there is an accepted solution and the people working on these problems aren't there to grip about a problem, they are there to fix it.

Extremely misleading website, do not trust it.

Despite what other commentators , this site is not a scam. They're users are more knowledgeable than just about any similar site on the net. I have never known them to glean answers from other sites to use on their site. Why would they "steal" answers from less knowledgeable sites. Yes, I wish their membership was free but it's not. To say that the Experts Exchange is a scam or intellectual thieves is ridiculous. Having a caution symbol next to the Experts Exchange results in searches because of a few ill-informed blowhards with too much time on their hands does a disservice to the spirit of this site and damages it's credibility (and mission) in my opinion. If you don't know the answers are provided free of charge at the bottom of the Experts Exchange's pages than you have not spent enough time on the net to form a proper opinion and should not be commenting.

How many transsex people are on here? How many idiots paid for this site?

Asks to pay to reveal answers. SUCKS

Even if the answers given WERE from any kind of "experts", this is a site generally featuring commonly-asked questions. All non-personal knowledge should be free, but especially knowledge about commonly-asked questions. The premise of this site is morally wrong.

Once upon a time this site was rather helpful and FREE. Now you have to pay to see the answers to questions and 9 times out of 10 the answer is either wrong or incomplete. They seem to have lost the point of the site and basically trick people into buying bad answers. Avoid this site, there are many better places to get quality answers.

All the negative comments basically seem to be about the fact you have to pay to use the site (which you don't, but so what if you did?) and the fact they market themselves (well, imagine that). Oh, and one MS MVP doesn't like it. No mention of the hundreds that use it (including me). I can understand some of the frustration as people clearly don't always get that the people answering are not experts paid by the site, they are users of the site, but in my experience (only really in the Excel area to be fair) there are a lot of knowledgeable people on there, many of whom don't post anywhere else. At the end of the day, you may not like the site, but it's not a scam, or phishing attack or fraudulent.

Why is THIS comment board being trolled by "EE" workers, users, supporters, etc ??? At first glance, I didn't even have a clue what "EE" stood for. Then I connected the dots myself - EE means "experts-exchange". But after reading thru 32 pages of "expert" comments, I beg to differ. If you scroll down to the bottom of their "answers" page, the "answer" has been REPLACED by the following: "Comments are available to members only. Sign up or Log in to view these comments." Gee, thanks for wasting my time.

I use this site a lot to answer questions I have at work. You don't need to sign up for anything. The replies to the question are always at the bottom of the page. Sure, if you sign up, you can view the answer right at the top, but why would you?
