Not that it seems that Facebook ITSELF is taking our information and using it, but I am more suspect in the CAPACITY for that information to be misused. Many have already signed over a lot of information to their servers: can they really trust it will not be misused or misplaced? The targeted ads give me a funny feeling in my stomach, and I cannot say I have never seen nudity on Facebook- not that I blame the website for THAT. (just explaining my less than trusted feeling for child appropriateness, not to mention to crass language I see all over :P )
Facebook is a tracking tool and only support users who invest money in their horrible pages.
When an owner of one page Facebook.com lack respect or allow their customers to use our pages as means of notifications at the same time, to make complaints to Facebook these are not rules ayan been raped.
But if I for example public a point of view where I do not agree the owner of page performs a report indicating that I as a user and missed the rules of Facebook, then Facebook blocked me my access to the accounts. They are swindlers and other liars never allow you to create pages for all nonprofits have to give them money...

Good for social networking, although it's not only site geared to social networking. If you set the privacy settings appropriately and you use facebook wisely you shouldn't run into security issues. Parents be advised that some groups on facebook are probably not appropriate for your children. It can be time consuming as well, but overall it is a good site!
Facebook over-all is a decent social media site, but it does track you online which can be seen as a privacy violation. Also your profile is out in the open and anyone can scroll through and see what you posts if you don't set up your settings correctly. Finally there are a lot of bad advertisements on this site which are easy to accidentally click on and lead you to bad sites with harmful content.
Now most of these things can be avoided such as;
-For online tracking I recommend Ghostery, it allows you to turn off certain online trackers, and also allows several other features like whitlisting sites.
-For privacy risks makes sure your posts are set to "Friends", or "Friends of Friends" rather than "Public". And remember it's a social media site, don't be posting a lot of personal things to begin with.
-For advertising I recommend Adblock, it gets rid of most advertisements so you can browse safely without worrying about an accidental click.
So basically you can avoid most of the problems by just taking extra precautions. Hope this helps.
