I log-in to many secure websites that verify me with a PRIVATE unique identifier, so why Facebook chooses a privacy-invasive method is suspicious --especially since it does not enable them to "know it's me" any better. They are untrustworthy, with their history of selling user information to marketers, and who knows who else.
