Never had any problems with this site. I only download from trusted software vendors. Always read installers carefully to ensure you do not install unwanted extra software, such as browser toolbars. There is an updater software that scans your HDD for out of date software in its database. This is very useful to keep the likes of flashplayer and Java up to date.

Filehippo used to be a great website for downloading stuff... escpially when ***** starting bundling malware into their "installers". Now they're just FOLLOWING ***** and bundling bullshit adware, beware of these sites, fuck this business model, and good night.

Avoid downloads from FILEHIPPO. Go directly to vendors' websites. FILEHIPPO has software bundled with multiple ADWARE. One example is the file converter SUPER by eRightSoft. During installation, I specifically rejected its request to install any software other than the main program, but SUPER by eRightSoft installed 4 different ADWARES despite my specific request. I have emailed complaints to FILEHIPPO about this twice now. Both times --> complaint about adware surreptitiously installed (despite exercising opt-out option) was *COMPLETELY IGNORED* by FILEHIPPO, which cares only about being paid by adware cos. rather than the safety of its visitors.

I really hate to give File Hippo a bad mark but I now feel I have no choice. It's very unfortunate since I have used this site for so many years. I trusted them so much that I have also suggest them to all my friends, family and customers. I use to tell them "File Hippo" is the safest place for downloading general use programs. The reason for my semi bad mark is because they have recently gone to the wrapper type install method for their programs. This is a sneaky way them to get money by making you unknowingly install unwanted programs with the one you actually downloaded. I am very disappointed in them for doing this. I still go here for a lot of my program update files but unfortunately. I am now more couscous of what I get and how I install after the download. The best suggestion I can give to anyone for this site and any other you might download programs from these days. Is to never choose the "Auto Install Method"..... I suggest you always choose the "Advanced Install" to make sure you uncheck any of the wrapped unwanted programs buried within the one you actually downloaded. You don't need to be a expert to understand you don't want McAfee and Google Chrome automatically installed, when you only wanted Firefox. This is a common trick that lots of company's use now ..... Including File Hippo!) I'm not saying this method is detrimental to your computer but if you already have a "Virus Protector Installed" It can cause you some grief. I just don't have any respect for a company that allows this type of sneaky back handed crap to go on. It ruins a company's good name and standing very quickly! I hope "File Hippo" will read peoples reviews and seriously reconsider what they are now condoning as their standard practice by going back to the way they were before...... A Suspicious (Yellow) WOT rating from me. File Hippo, in their impending quest for more revenue, has decided to bundle Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPS) with its Download Manager.
