Have used ancestry for the last year and let me tell you geni is a thousand times better The ability to merge tree And to help book on the wall tree is incredible (One Big problem thouugh) When you pay for geni Pro membership It charges you more than advertised At checkout didn't include Vat eg It said to check out price was $55 and on my bank statement it was £70 And then I finally dug out the invoice they sent me and included tax but did not say that on checkout + Even with full membership it keeps trying to link me to my heritage and trying to encourage me to buy my heritage membership Ridiculous If it wasn't for this I would give it 10/10

Very high costs for custumers and if you don't pay annoying pop-ups keeps on going preventing you to do research or add people to your tree. Privacy is biggest concern. People copy others trees, add wrong information, and you really cannot delete your own information once you add it. They have revision tab which record everything you do...And like wikipedia never forgets what you put in. Not recommended.

Site allows too may people to view your family tree. Control of the tree is also poor. I had a relative added who then made duplicates of my parents and changed their details. In-laws were added who also made changes to my parents. Geni accepts these duplicates as valid and won't let you delete them. I think Geni's need to generate revenue encourages them to allow too much access to you tree in order to find new customers

Но они не знают, что я при написании фамилий допустил ошибку, указав заглавную букву не к месту, например PetRov вместо Petrov. Вот и присылают мне «дразнилки» с такой же ошибкой. Мне очевидно, что это никакие не совпадения, а специально созданные клоны, призванные раскрутить меня на деньги.

When you research and publish personal details about your deceased relatives, that is called genealogy. When you do this to living persons, it is called invasion of privacy. Needs improvement protecting (living) third-parties who are not members of this service.

The VERY BEST "family tree" site. Superior depth and capabilities. Excellent security features keep your family information as private as you want it to be. A few navigation quirks that need improvement, but overall it is very good for such a complex site with potentially huge family databases. Highly addictive!!! You could easily spend all your time building a massive family history.

It is easy to use, and is private to those in the tree, so the whole world isn't looking at your private information. I recommend it to anyone looking for a place to put their family history in one place. Has photo and video upload capabilities, and automatic birthday and anniversary reminders.
