Site claims to give background info but it's incomplete/inaccurate and then wants you to pay more for "complete" info. Then I started to receive multiple spam emails which I had not gotten before I signed up. I believe this is a phishing scam. I alerted my credit card company and blocked my account. I will proceed to change emails and passwords on sites. Clearly something PHISHY. Avoid this site... They could lead to identity theft considering the nature of it. AVOID!

I saw an add in IE(without WOT) and clicked on it. It was a site that appeared to provide free background info and I entered my son's name. After it showed some info on the searched, I was prompted for a payment. I clicked the "X" to exit and prompted for discount rate of $1.00 and I accepted using paypal. Somewhere in the crazy payment cycle, I was prompted to login to paypal a second time. I was able to view the search and was a typical background search that has been available for years to PIs and everyone on the internet. I received PayPal e-malls(3) that listed the $1.00 payment and another $1.99 charge. BAD SITE.
This site runs a bunch of 'smoke & mirrors' to make you think they have information on the person that you entered.
However, after all the waiting they then tell you that you have to pay $22.86 to receive the information that they searched.
I think this site is a SCAM! I can find the SAME INFORMATION by using a Google search engine for free!
They promise all kinds of data on individuals...don't believe it! They provide phone numbers, addresses, ages, and little more. They have a choice of one, three, six, or twelve month subscription models, in which you pay one single payment. Naturally the longer period, the lower cost/month is. I stupidly chose one month "trial." Well they proceeded to bill me monthly! Not just one month. I am currently asking my credit card provider to reverse all charges. Don't use fall prey to these criminals.
I wanted to see what someone else might see and did a background check on myself and I was shocked that I found so very much information about myself was on this site. I'm not very proud of some of the stupid things I have done when I was a lot younger than 60 and I hate that it will show me getting in trouble with the law . I have never been in any trouble with the law unless I had been drinking So I quit drinking and never got in trouble again. What I don't like about this site is that it won't show how many years I have stayed out of trouble and that my younger years may come back to haunt me.
These guys aren't up front about it, but after about 10 minutes of theater with lots of "search progress bars" moving about, they finally get to the point of telling you it'll take at least 10 bucks to see your report. I can't vouch for the validity of their information since I stopped there to write this, but it all seems way too scammy. I wouldn't trust them. Two thumbs down.
Signed up for a trial. Quickly figured out they use only free sources and it was all a scam. Called them and canceled the trial within a hour of signing up. They waited 2 months and then started charging $25.81 to my card. Took 2 months to figure that out. Had to cancel my card. Looks like I am out $51.62. Wish I found DoNotTrackMe or Blur by Abine.com sooner (I love this service, you can make masked credit cards!). Got Spammed also but I did use a Masked email provided by Abine and quickly deactivated the email to stop it. I urge everyone to use DoNotTrackMe to protect yourself from Scammers like this. I must not have had WOT installed when I went to there website, if I did I would have known better.
"InstantCheckmate.com" charges a high, recurring, fee for basic people search results. In order to view detailed information with your search, you will be required to pay additional fees. A .PDF download of your results will cost an additional $1.99 for each PDF. Overall experience is that of "being spammed" into more and more charges for additional search information.
Site/Service employs bait and switch marketing technique. To recieve the services you would expect requires purchasing additional subscriptions. The basic subscription service offers information publically available at no or minimal processing charges from public offices.
NOT intended for access by minors.
I just canceled my account and so far the process was quick and painless.
I really like using the checker tool. I feel much safer knowing I can do this on adults that my son will be spending a lot of time with. I feel safer knowing that they don't have anything weird in their public records.
I "may have" authorized a 8/14 payment for what I understood to be a "one time" payment for their information, but I then saw they were doing an open-end monthly draw on my PayPal account. I notified PayPal and I also called InstantCheckMate, com and told them I saw nothing about a monthly recurring payment authorized plan. They stopped my account and did refund the 9/14 debit. Be very careful about using Instant Checkmate. IMO I think they may be deceptive.
After 15+ min of research (by this site) it finally say you have to pay. Pay is ok, but to put it after all that waiting (and what appears to be duplication of research) is misleading. May be legit in it's findings, but the way it is handleing it is not correct (IMHO)
