This is a safe website and is deliberately a spoof. It's a harmless and very useful way of teaching young children not to believe everything they read on the internet. I think some people have given it a 'low' rating as they do not understand that it is very deliberately showing 'fake' information in a professional and harmless way. It serves as a fun tool for explaining what fake websites look like. I have used it a number of times to illustrate this. Don't forget to tell the kids that there is no such thing as a tree octopus after the learning experience.

Raises much-needed awareness of the tree octopus, Octopus paxarbolis, and the endangerment of this tragically obscure yet ecologically vital species. The Pacific Northwest tree octopus deserves the same degree of environmentalist respect that we grant to many other species threatened by human activity.
