These sneaky bastards will jam a browser toolbar down your throat!! Even if you choose the Custom install and "Skip all offers", it will STILL get installed. You are forced to UNinstall the toolbar afterwards. Toolbars are spyware, pure and simple, I don't care who they come from. That is seriously unethical. Otherwise, it seems to be an effective firewall.

ZoneAlarm has a very effective product, but i've had some trouble with updates. last week ZoneAlarm notified me of an update and i clicked the update button to download which went fine. the install portion led to two screens where i WAS REQUIRED TO ANSWER YES (there wasn't any "no" option to enter) to two installations which i didn't want or need; otherwise the installation would have aborted. i wound up with an unnecessary ZoneAlarm toolbar and a security analysis that i didn't want. later, i found all my NoScript settings had been wiped out along with some passwords. none of this was required when i initially installed ZoneAlarm. the preceeding was written on ***** today's ***** and i've rethought my ZoneAlarm evaluation. a reviewer mentioned late in the comment section that one of the installations done by ZoneAlarm included the Montera Toolbar. after i ran a Spybot scan the Montera Toolbar came up with a very high danger warning. i've had other things go poorly since my initial ZoneAlarm installation and i've decided to uninstall ZoneAlarm with hope that everything works fine again.

Haven't seen such a buggy piece of software since Firefox 20. Installation is buggy or aborts and awfully slow. It hinders updating Firefox for no reason. Sometimes it hangs the PC during boot. Funiest thing of all: sometimes the trayicon is not responding to right-clicks or the monitor doesn't have access to its own configuration or changes are not saved at all. When zonealarm is running - more or less buggy/faultless - it consumes much CPU-time for no reason. And it forces explorer to run in background and open connections to the internet or keep ports open. Also starting and terminating (other) programs manually is disturbed. The installation of its spyware-toolbars can NOT be avoided. It's listed in the install logs: Montiera toolbar. There is suspicious behaviour of Zonealarm. "svchost.exe -k netsvcs" is causing high load of 200 kB/s on the filesystem since installation. And the firewall is sending every second compressed data to ps2.zonelabs.com.edgesuite.net, and the IP-subnet ***** especially to .23 .30 .33 .39 .40 .63 with no response coming back.

Может платная версия и стоящая весчь- но судя по тому, какова фрии версия- покупать эту хрень не стоит

I've used ZoneAlarm free firewall for a couple years, and it's always seemed to work great. During my tests it seemed to have adequate protection. Now that they have the free anti-virus/firewall I'm even happier to use it. The anti-virus has already blocked viruses with it's proactive virus protection. The firewall hasn't been logging any blocked attempts, so I'm not sure if the firewall is as good as it has been, but the tests I've ran are still coming back good. I trust the ZoneAlarm free products more than I trust the paid for McAfee or AVG products, among others. But when I'm able to afford the paid for ZoneAlarm products I plan to upgrade, because of course the paid for products offer more protection. My recommendation for anyone who can afford the paid ZoneAlarm software, is to go for it, but if you're not able to afford the software at the time, they offer a great free alternative.
