Безопасен ли akamai.net?

I've be trusting akamai.net for years (since I first researched it the hard way) -- no problems so far. Akamai provides services to organizations that are very questionable, but does not seem to share/cross-link info between different organizations. I suspect that if you block akamai.net, your useful Web browsing ability will suffer ... it is as pervasive as doubleclick.net, but seemingly as good as the latter is bad.

<akamai.net>, owned and operated by Akamai Technologies, is an Internet content delivery network, headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, US. The company was founded in 1998 by then-MIT graduate student Daniel M. Lewin, and MIT Applied Mathematics professor Tom Leighton. Lewin was killed aboard American Airlines flight 11 which crashed in the September 11 attacks of 2001. Leighton still serves as Akamai's Chief Scientist. Akamai is a Hawaiian word meaning smart or intelligent with connotations of insightful or wise or skillful.
