Useful if you know how to use it and have decent grammar. Just be wary in the Politics or Religious sections they aren't as tolerant as other sections on the site.

Most of the questions posted on this site are just stupid and pointless(e.g. what is your favourite car?)

Just as there are risks in the community where you live, participating in the Yahoo! Answers community may present certain risks to children and teenagers. In the same way you would look out for your child’s well-being on a daily basis in the real world, their well-being in the online world deserves your attention. *Yahoo! Answers users are expected to behave in ways that foster community, not harm it. The Answers Community Guidelines outlines these expectations. Users must agree to abide by the community guidelines before using Yahoo! Answers. Users also agree to the Yahoo! Terms of Service when registering for a Yahoo! ID.* Yahoo! incorporates a number of safety features within Yahoo! Answers that when taken advantage of can limit risk, but parents and caregivers are expected to take an active role in protecting their children’s online safety. It’s important to familiarize yourself with general practices for online safety for you and your child. In particular, when your child is using Yahoo! Answers please keep this general advice in mind: * Protecting personal information: Children under the age of 13 are not permitted to ask or answer questions on Yahoo! Answers. Younger users of Yahoo! Answers, especially those between the ages of 13 and 17, should be reminded that posting personal information in their questions or answers, no matter how harmless it might seem, could identify them to strangers. Using nicknames and profile settings to restrict sharing and contact access in Yahoo! Answers can limit contact from unknown users. See more information about selecting appropriate Yahoo! Answers nicknames and profile settings. * Harassment: If users are able to contact your child, he or she might be exposed to unpleasant, sexually suggestive, or abusive language. Your child’s Yahoo! Answers profile settings can be set to limit email and instant messaging contact with other users. * *Mature content: Yahoo! Answers’ Community Guidelines forbid profane, obscene, vulgar, or sexually explicit language. If inappropriate language appears in questions or answers, Yahoo! encourages you or your child to report abuse.* ------------------------------ Bad Your use of Yahoo! Answers is subject to the Yahoo! Answers Community Guidelines, Yahoo! Community Guidelines, and also the Yahoo! Terms of Service. Members who have violated the Community Guidelines are at risk for review and possible termination of their Answers accounts. In extreme cases, members risk losing their Yahoo! ID, and consequently, access to all other Yahoo! services. * Venting, ranting or using hate speech *Yahoo! Answers isn't a soapbox to vent personal frustrations or rant about issues. We are a community of people with diverse beliefs, opinions, and backgrounds, so please be respectful and keep hateful and incendiary comments off Yahoo! Answers.* * Chatting or otherwise violating the question-and-answer format. Don't Yahoo! Answers as a soapbox to vent your frustrations, rant, or otherwise violate the question and answer format. If you prefer to have discussions or chat with others, please use one of Yahoo!'s other community services, such as Yahoo! Groups or Yahoo! Messenger Chat Rooms. * Being mean or obscene *Because kids as young as 13 may participate in Yahoo! Answers, sexually explicit and vulgar language and images are not welcome on the site. Also not welcome are belligerence, insults, slurs and generally objectionable speech. If you wouldn't say it in public, don't post it on Answers. * ------------------------- Is it OK to use profanity? *We strongly discourage the use of profanity on Answers. You are in violation of our guidelines if your use of profanity is sexually explicit, obscene, harassing, or insulting to others.* In *very* rare circumstances, the use of a bad word may not be considered a violation, as in this example here. Your account may be reviewed if many community members agree that your use of profanity is excessive. Also, please note that profanity is not allowed to be used in nicknames. -------------------- Can I ask questions about sex? Sex and sexual health questions are allowed on Answers *as long as they are not graphic. Don’t refer to body parts with profane words, don’t over-share sexual details, and don’t represent yourself with an avatar that represents adult content*. Be sure to categorize your question correctly because it is possible for a question to be abusive in the context of a specific category, even if it would not be considered abusive in the context of a different category. ------------------- (I only have an account there.)

I've often seen adult content, as well as rude, offensive, and even explicit (obscene) user avatars and names.
14
I would not call this site Child friendly due to some hateful and adult content posted by other users!
7
Great care must be taken when clicking other users links. I've had one incident of Browser hijacking and malicious links. Fortunately, I was sandboxed at the time.

Too much adult content.
16
There is often very adult material in the questions on the site and I think it should be indicated in some way next to the questions
