very annoying pop-up. which is disappointing - because the information looked good. You would think with the kind of information I was looking for (about security) the site would be more respectful of my computer.

The popup, which can be easily dismissed, is for a free newsletter enjoyed by over 40,000 subscribers since 2005. There is no security risk.
Pop ups to very malicious sites. Also advertisements to some doubtful sites as viewed by WOT.

Absolutely untrue. There are no popups or links to malicious sites on AskBobRankin.com. See the Google Safe Browsing Report for this site: https://www.google.com/transparencyreport/safebrowsing/diagnostic/index.html#url=askbobrankin.com/

AskBobRankin.com has been a site trusted by many tens of thousands of people since 2005. I've been helping people understand and safely use the Internet since 1994.
This website pops up a dialog box that asks you to subscribe to the AskBob Updates. There is no way to close this dialog box. It sits there blocking the web page. I don't trust people who demand I sign up to their newsletters and won't let me close the box.

Not true. The popup box has a little "X" in the corner and can be closed easily. AskBobRankin.com is 100% safe.
