Is avast.com Safe?

Great anti virus. also its free version is works very good, provide boot time scanning and if u don't need boot scan you just cancel it by pressing Esc key . Virus database file is also in smallest size compare to other so if you don't have internet connection then also you can update offline your antivirus daily.

avast! 4 used to be a great piece of Antivirus software before (as a regular & loyal user for so many years), but now, no, NOT a single bit since ALWIL announced their new BUGGY "avast! 5", it's such a big NIGHTMARE for certain users. There are too many problem occurs, most common one would be the BSOD, shields OFF (unsecured) problem, no connectivity (webshield) problem, updating & registration problem, slow browsing, startup hangs or lagging (already too much) plus many more. Although it's almost a year for their new release, unfortunately, it's still in a "baby" stage of development (very unstable), this version still need more time to improve! Apart from impressive V5 user interface, other features just sucks big time due to the multiple BUGS stated above! It's far for being "fair", simply doesn't deserve to call "good" at all. Don't like avast! 5 sound & voice at all, that female voice over was freaking ANNOYED to hear, moreover, you can't change to other sounds via control panel unlike V4, turn it OFF all the time is the best solution! Check out the forum & found out same problems repeated again & again that mostly cover the problem stated above which included program install & uninstall constantly (well, not all users like this method), repairing, rebooting and so on... although the user there provided some help, but most problems still remain unresolved. Why? The reason is quite obvious!! Well, it's hard to believe that some helpers there are even sarcastic & ignorant... BE WARNED...AVAST! 5 HATES REMNANTS! That's enough to made V5 hard to run normally well on certain machines. The development team should pay attention to such irritated problem in the future. avast! 4 is well made, therefore it doesn't have such problem! Come on, what's wrong with you V5? Guess this total let down & frustration already enough to lead some users to seek better AV solution until the "stable" version of 5! Sorry, V5, I'm not here to affect your reputation, just telling the truth! NOT user friendly! NOT Recommended to anyone! Believe or not, V5 is total piece of junk at the moment! PS : avast! probably making a wrong decision for releasing their so-called new engine V5, and now they are announced V5.1 Beta for public test thus making even more BUGS than ever (sigh!), we knew it's still in beta stage (buggy stage) but it does has serious impact on official (public) release just like V5.0 beta, well, at least glad to knew that there's some users out there already switch from avast! to another better free AV right now, good decision! Anyway, will see how far V5.1 can go...! ...V5.1 official has been released, as expected, this version doesn't run smooth at all & even caused more bugs, system lock up should be the critical one where reinstall windows is needed which made some user more frustrating, the new updated just made even more people pissed off at the moment (sigh!!!) V5.1 is proved to worst than V5.0...rather not to release it :(
