// Zooming in at ***** only works with activated brightcove.com. UPDATE: galleries now have a much better UI…!

Uses 1pixel gif image for tracking: http://goku.brightcove.com/1pix.gif? Through two acquisitions Brightcove provides web-based video encoding and ad insertion by stitching the ads into the video. Unless you download these video's and cut out the ads, you will have to watch them. Content producers need to live as well. Script is available here: http://admin.brightcove.com/js/BrightcoveExperiences_all.js

Funny all these people trusting this when TRUSTe does not... "Does NOT meet minimum standards set by TRUSTe for data governance and privacy. [link] " See the NOT, yeah, golfclaps for all...

Brightcove ist nichts anderes als ein Tracker, der sich übrigens auch auf dieser Seite findet.

***** Checking with Google Saebrowsing website - I am really getting tired of Google's self-contradictory reports. Viz. the following brief excerpts: "Has this site hosted malware? "No, this site has not hosted malicious software over the past 90 days." and yet, "What happened when Google visited this site? "... The last time Google visited this site was on 2014-07-14, and the last time suspicious content was found on this site was on ***** "Malicious software includes 5 trojan(s). "Malicious software is hosted on 1 domain(s), including ***** "1 domain(s) appear to be functioning as intermediaries for distributing malware to visitors of this site, including palmspringslife.com/." Friends, I think that April 22 lies well within the last 90 days of today, July 14, don't you? And yet, Google says unequivocally that this site did nothing wrong since April 16 (89 days ago), and it is not currently shown as suspicious in Google Safebrowsing's reports. When hpHosts checked it, it was found that its IP PTR did not resolve back to the domain. It is my understanding that this is out of compliance with Internet standards. All this is why I have rated it as Suspicious (Yellow), to say the least, and have identified it for multiple Questionable and Negative attributes. Recommend checking it every day when encountering it.

Cloud service provide heavily used by other sites to host video content.

Unfortunately, it appears that in order to watch videos on the New York Times website, scripts from brightcove.com must be enabled.
5
Brightcove video content is also associated with domains on *.fcod.llnwd[.]net (Limelight Networks). Thought some traffic I saw was tied to a poisoned ad or beaconing acitivty. Turned out it was tied to a user viewing video content on ESPN via Brightcove.

I use the services from this website in order to view videos when I visit the website of The Economist ***** I have not had any problems personally, thus rated on vendor reliability only. Note that the TRUSTe seal dated 25 Jan 2012 indicates that this site does not meet minimum standards for data governance and privacy.

T Rowe Price (the mutual fund company) uses (requires) BRIGHTCOVE.COM to view its videos. If I trust TRP with my few dollars, I gotta trust them when they use this service.

BrightCove seems to be necessary to view legitimate videos on ***** (albeit, with advertisements :) )
