Is care2.com Safe?

A day after I replied to a greeting card someone sent me to thank them, I was spammed by this website. They apparently automatically sign you up for their newsletter without your consent if you simply use their website once, and they claim that you subscribed to the newsletter by sending you the message "You subscribed to Healthy Living Daily newsletter on ...” They get a thumb down vote from me for spamming.

This is such a great site! I've been visiting ***** for 4 years and apart from enjoying their free services and ecologically oriented information this is a site where you can breeze in and breeze out and always get the feeling you're part of one big planetary family that's doing its very best to make this world a better place. With climate change and ecological deterioration looming over us all today this website is a must!

never had anything bad on my hard-drive like a virus ect, it is a very good site for petitions yes might be content you would not wish some children to see , but never been bothered with anything bad ,and as for spam when you sign up for a petition site what do people expect good site in my view. you can always block the spam in your e -mal addy if you wish and go to the site as and when you please , or make another e mal addy within your e mail, never had a problem with this site no virus ect.

Well I like care2 very much, though they DO have the policy that says"We hate spam"... Eeerrr, well so be it.. If it gets really annoying send an email to care2`s staff and they will physically remove you from their lists,but it takes up to a week..Very friendly staff, but the BIG DANGER is that those free e-cards can contain malicious bad/spyware or viruses... Problem nr 2: They have got lots of ads which are very dangerous cause googleads are 50/50 malicious or good... Then the thing is only to use WOT-scorecard,if it`s a flash-ad DO NOT click even if it looks like it`s care2`s own ad.. In the end I urge people to use/register a b-shit mailaccount that you only give to companies and other org`s that you don`t use often,and also I reccomend using Firefox with google prewiewer for ex, and Ad-block that works fine for me! Also "Tubestopper" that stops autoplaying of Youtube and similar videoes, cause THEY can be a big risk for your safety... After my ID got stolen I have had a horrible year with daily calls,creditreports etc etc,luckily my creditcard had id.theft insurranse bundled in the deal :-) Saved me maybe as I write ***** $... Never ever walk around with ALL your cards on yoy, only the most urgent ones..

Very paranoid website. Alot of their articles ignore facts and sensationalize things the writers dont understand. Its one of those "green" eco-creep sites. I do like being healthy and eco friendly but this site crosses the thin line between staying healthy and being paranoid.

I don't know if it is because of the Holidaze, but people are constantly trying to sell their "genuine" goods and Care2 has only given me a ticket number and will get back to me...they haven't. Even when I block these sellers, they come back under a new topic we are discussing and now Care2 is constantly checking my log-in information. What's up with that? Prior to this month I really enjoyed Care2 and the people who really care(especially of human and animal abuse).
