Is change.org Safe?

One of the best ways to make a petition and promote it. Making one is quick and painless, taking less than 10 minutes. Social integration makes it easy to share petitions on Facebook and Twitter. Petitions can be featured both on the website and on an occasional newsletter. There are several petitions that can change the lives of one person or the entire world, reflecting both liberal and conservative beliefs. If you want to start a petition and make a change, consider using this site.

Great and popularly used petition site, but NOT for localized petitions. (People from another area can still sign your petition even if it is meant for JUST 1 AREA, and ONLY THOSE PEOPLE ARE NEEDED TO SIGN IT.) Only other issues I have is that people can and may give themselves irrelevant, fake, or offensive names when signing petitions, which screws up the whole thing. Also, the lack of communication with others, including the founder. I can't get hold of anyone and it really p*sses me off. But 'tis a good site overall.

Although this is a good site with great aspiration and cause, the instant you sign up be prepared to receive a torrent of email from other similar sites with causes. I have been swamped with email from organizations which I'd never heard of until I signed up for change.org. The majority of them are well meaning but it seems like every day I get a new one sending requests for money or support. Tread cautiously unless you want a lot of email.
