Free, Paid, and Free Trial software site. They test what they are distributing before putting it up, which is a breath of fresh air to me. Some downloads are paid though, but they are also legal. You can get practically ANY program here--- YouTube downloaders (easier for videos editors, like me, instead of using a conversion site, which is another effective way), antivirus (keep a careful watch for rouges- Just in case), and the free version of Hypercam. It's all safe, free, and legal. Period. Amazing, non warez, download site.
One of the best tech sites. Loads of info on computer hardware, software, networks, security, Internet; and also TVs, home theater, phones/smartphones, digital cameras, etc. Great reviews, blogs, editorials, product guides, technical white papers, and articles on the political and sociological aspects of technology.
They also run the former download.com, now download.cnet.com, one of the best and safest places to download software (freeware, shareware and commercial trials). I've never had a bad download from them, and I've downloaded hundreds of times. Several years ago they had a problem with software authors writing fake positive reviews for their own products, but they seem to have taken care of that.
One warning--if the files haven't been reviewed by an editor yet, they can potentially be infected. The only three programs not reviewed by an editor that I downloaded tested positive for riskware, malware, and Trojan horses. If the file's been reviewed, as is very popular, they are perfectly fine. The site overall is very good.
