New owners have not maintained this software, in order to advertise their paid products. Rated red for child safety so your kids don't erase your computer. Checked the Ads category because the site has significant advertising for the paid software Blancco, as well as a full screen ad displayed after DBAN is done destroying your data.

While I have never personally used it, I have friends who swear by it. I have heard nothing but good things about the software.

Before discarding an old computer I highly recommend you run DBAN on all the hard drives. This keeps your private data from ending up for sale on the net somewhere.

DBAN (Darik´s Boot And Nuke) ist ein klasse Tool, um Daten restlos vom Computer zu entfernen. Was dieses Tool löscht, kann nicht wiederhergestellt werden. Gut, wenn man Festplatte oder PC verkaufen will. Noch besser, wenn man einen besonders hartnäckigen Virus eingefangen hat. Nach einem dreifachen Überschreiben ist nichts mehr davon übrig. Einmaliges Shreddern sollte man nicht wählen; zu unsicher.
