Site full of malware give them a poor rating in future, my e-mail is ***** if u want the screenshot of what I got from downloading a free prog from this site, reply & I'll do so!

Don't download anything from them. They've been reputable in the past, but not anymore. I downloaded CCleaner from them and, unknowing to me, installed the Coupon Companion plug-in(Adware) without my consent. I always check to make sure I'm not getting any junk and I got it anyways. So I can not, and will not trust downloads from this site.

Installed multiple spyware and bloatware apps without my knowledge via the "download manager". Do not use this site, or at least not the download manager. Totally unacceptable.

Every download they have can only be downloaded though their crappy download manager.

Since CNET was acquired by CBS, their downloads now have spyware/;adware/toolbars. The information on the site is still good, but I would download anything at the manufacturer's website. Sad that CNET has taken this route.

Used to trust these guys. Recently downloaded a program and their stupid download manager installed "Coupon Companion" on my computer without my consent and I'm sure it was spying on everything I did. It even overlayed YouTube with a message saying I needed to download an update - this alerted me that something fishy was going on because I've never seen anything like that. C|Net: you suck. C|Net therefore has disgraced themselves in my opinion and I will never use their site again. Ever.

As with all software, you must be patient during any install procedure. Never accept the default setting of any program. After being led and redirected to Malware I no longer use CNET. Always think SECURITY COMES FIRST! Even if it is a trusted web site!

There are problems with download.cnet.com -- many "editor" reviews are superficial and imply the software is perfect. The user reviews are filled with bias - not so unusual, but a warning to tread carefully. I always start with the Negative reviews to see the worst possible case, then check with the software makers website, and WOT and Softpedia to get a clearer picture. I shouldn't have to do all this, but the last time I jumped at a piece of software (free) rated high by the editor, it installed a rogue IM client and I had to invoke three pieces of cleanup software to disable, kill and remove it. Not good. There are a lot of good softwares here and the reviews (not editor's) can help - but, like I said: tread cautiously. Oh, yes, they also have their own download client, which will bring you lots of additional ads. Just saying.

Misleading advertisement. It say free just to get you to download. Then after it completes scanning you computer they want you to purchase the software before the fix the errors. BS false advertisement!

This is a very reliable site to pick up new software for trial. I've ended up purchasing or donating to many developers that post their software here over the years. Caution is still the wisest course for all downloads but I've never, to my knowledge, had a Trojan horse or other malware piggyback any software posted here.

Recent downloads have deceptive install programs t;hat install spyware and adware and possibly malware. Tried to install IE9 spelling programs and thought I had unchecked tool bar addons. Turns out they used deceptive wording to get you to install them anyway. It was pure hell to get rid of them. Actually had to remove registry entries. Willl not use this site in the future.

I used to use this site all the time. Lately however, I've downloaded TWO programs and both not only made me download bloatware from the site, but one also came with a coupon program that I wasn't optional and filled all my websites with spam. I was able to delete it but this is uncalled for. I may use this site again if it gets it's act cleaned up.

Coupon Companion installed by Download Manager, even if user chooses not to install crapware.

Today I got a virus from CNET.Downloading some free Webcam software.I should have read the user reviews first. What a headache. What if I had a run of the mill security system.I would have been in a really bad situation.Comodo caught it while it was installing. Then hitman pro removed parts of it.Then later Comodo geek Buddy removed the last of it that was still in temp files.

TROJANS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Downloads are riddled with bloatware. You cannot access the download and has to download a CNET downloader that tries to install ad bars to your browsers. Look for other download sites. ***** is better
