Twice lately installed software, and everything is good. Touch wood. I feel if cautious with download, pay attention & take your time. download.cnet is offering a safe download.

According to uBlock as a example from many other instances there is this to consider about cnet.com: ''uBlock Origin has prevented the following page from loading: http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free-Antivirus-2016/3000-2239_4-10019223.... Because of the following filter ||download.cnet.com^$document'' Seems a bit dodgy really.

Full of spyware, worms and different kind of insects when you install programms.

The home page of the software I wanted pointed to CNet. Argh. What to do? The "Download" button did NOT say "Installer Enabled", which was a good sign, but my trust level of CNet's download site is pretty low -- however, I verified the hash of the file against the hash published on the software's home page, and they matched. No <expletive deleted> Ask toolbar, or any other such crap seen post-install. Still, I'd prefer not to get anything from CNet's download site.

Beware of unwanted programs and tool bars.

***** bundles Unwanted Programs (PUP with almost every single one of their downloads. The fact that the rating is green only shows how well they do at sneaking these installs in. Please don't be ignorant and give this site a proper rating.

I read the article on Cnet and d/l DIVX program, but it never installed because I refused to accept their third party softwares. In the meanwhile, Cnet d/l without my permission a third party virus software call 360 degree. I am done with Cnet and will NEVER click their website.. They are going on my blacklist. BTW, the setup in my programs will not uninstall.

CNET has gone low and now makes you download a "installer" to download the actual software you went in for. Then their Installer has a bunch of hidden options that changes settings on your system and browser.

Full off malicious adware with deceptive installers. "Excellent" ratings are completely misguiding!

Usually I download a CCleaner here. Otherwise I see no problems with site!

Don't use the installer. Otherwise a good site.

Some downloads are "wrapped" in a adware installer. IF you have to download from CNET, use a program/application like unchecky.

Increasingly I've been downloading software which either hosts viruses or comes with payloads of unwanted extra software that isn't obvious on installation.

Non controllano i programmi hostati che sono pieni di crapware aggiuntivi che verranno puntualmente installati dagli utenti poco attenti

be careful about downloading from this site, they have clearly fallen asleep on the job and let what used to be a good trustworthy website go down the road of distributing virus and malware ridden software. not good avoid or you may regret it

Do as many rogue downloads websites , ie to change the installers of programs hosted in their site to add crap all kinds (especially adware, toolbars or spyware). Not content with this dishonest, it forces us, but AFTER you put personal opinion on the quality of a program, include in this website, linking to another account such as Facebook to publish the notice!
