Is facebook.com Safe?

PRISM PRISM PRISM Facebook is a data mining, nosey and a company that is designed to spy on you furthermore now it is helping the US government spy on you too..... Definitely not suitable for children or people who are unaware of how to keep themselves private. Furthermore, if you dont ensure that yuor account is private, it just shares your profile with the entire planet... You tell me if these are safe practices or not...

(Updated below)^There is high potential you will get malware on your computer from using FB or their many third party applications. They are constantly changing the privacy settings and it's almost impossible to keep up with them. Privacy is almost non-existant. Deleting an account must be done a certain way or they will still own your content. This is a terrible site for children and most parents don't monitor their children anywhere nearly close enough. Stay away from Facebook. I have been burned with malware and trojans I could link directly to it. EDIT: Since my first comments, I have found Facebook has worked hard on improving their security. I have no qualms about using it now to post things such as status, photos and events in groups. In fact, I am now an administrator of a group myself. I would feel comfortable using the most popular third party applications, such as Farmville or Candy Crush, to name just two. But I would still stay away from the very new and seldom used third party apps until they proved themselves secure. No sense in taking any chances...just sayin'! To summarize, I have changed my ratings from from poor to 'trustworthy' for adults but 'be cautious' for children. I just don't think it's a place for kids. I'm speaking as a former elementary teacher who has seen some get into trouble without proper supervision. If children (under 16) are limited to their family and kids they know (perhaps listed in a family group) and properly supervised, I would jig it up one notch.

When people run out of coins the company uses pop up to make offers to buy more coins for players to use. The company the ignores complaints about their faulty games and says try again
