For people who complain about privacy, if you go to my profile, you can't view anything unless we're friends, only my profile picture. If you aren't an idiot, you'll know how to set it up to your liking. Just because it's default public, doesnt make it THEIR responsability to change your settings to private for you, that's your job. Also, don't click on questionable links, like "see whos been stalking your profile!", if you're dumb enough to fall for these, then you deserve to be hacked, or stalked, or whatever.
It is a good web site, with entertaining services and applications, however, some applications do pose a threat to you if you do not pay the necessary attention or if you do not inform yourself at all times, as some applications will send you Spam and all sorts of Virus, Worms, Trojans, Backdoors and Phishing Attacks.
Also, you will have your personal details given to the world, if you do not protect yourself, so do not provide any personal details that you do not want to disclose to any person, much less to the entire world.
I would never let my child (under the age of 12 - and even that is a stretch) use facebook. There are too many ways that they can get into trouble. The privacy is one issue, another is the content which can be rated much higher than PG13 - sure you can change the settings but only so much, and kids these days know how to change them back. Then there are all the programs and the weird people that might try to get to know them. NEVER.
As for vendor rating, that was neutral because I have never "bought" anything even tokens for a game or something, through facebook.
Facebook is a good site overall that does allow you to keep in touch with people around the world and I really do like that. However, it was started back when I was in college and I'm pretty sure it should have stayed with college only or college and adult only access. Having middle school and high school students on facebook is a bad idea.
Facebook sell our private informations to make profit as by targetted advertising. Moreover, lot of ads are linked with unreliable website.
Usefull for network but still really dangerous, that's how I see facebook.
