I absolutely adore Fanfiction.net because it has a great wealth of fanfiction from various fandoms, but it is necessary to realise that many fanfics do contain various levels of adult content (written/literary), from "fade-to-black" to explicit written sex. However, FF.net does use a rating system for fanfics from "K" or "K+" for children of varying ages, to "T" for teenagers, and "M" for adults. It also has a reporting system for fanfics that have been incorrectly placed in the wrong rating category.
Use with caution or supervision, because some content may offend some readers.
Other than the adult content, there really aren't any issues with FF.net. As with most sites with unsupervised advertisements, it would be advisable not to click on suspicious links.
I've reported some pretty disgusting porn on Fanfiction.net - it was still there after weeks. Obviously the mods there have no interest in deleting stories depicting the rape of corpses and other such nice things.
Good site for fiction of various anime, manga, cartoons, games, comics, and etc... Most authors have good judgement in properly rating their works, but the site doesn't provide supervision so it all up to parents/guardians to keep an eye out, but noting really bad about the site, though at times they have annoying ads especially on IE which mess up the scroll bar.
An excellent site for those seeking fanfiction, unfortunately while the site itself has strict rules against NC-17 content, it does exist, and is not hard to find, as such it's not a site that should be used by young children without supervision.
I love ff.net it is an amazing site to check out! i read HarryPotterfanfiction like no other and i love this site! It does have adult content, but you choose your rating, if you dont want adult content dont read MATURE stories, when you start to read and see that it is rated M, DONT READ IT. There are plent of amazing stories ratined T>K. M is amazing!
It was a fun and nice website to read some anime fanfictions =D . . . until I got adware and trojans from it D=
Some of my friends have even reported getting viruses from there or having their computers crash or bluescreen when browsing stories. When you look up a story, it will lead you to an advertisement first usually by a illegal casino website or a phishing website, requiring you to press "skip" to get to your story. Browse this site with common sense and caution!
Just a site where people publish their fanfics for various series of all kinds. Yes, there are child-unfriendly fics, and Sturgeon's Law is in full effect, but there's a rating system, so you can tell which fics would be appropriate and which would be not.
It's the largest archive of fanfiction, but 99% of it consists of "stories" full of poor grammar, lousy spelling, and creepy fetishes. The beta readers just skim through the stories and don't give any decent criticism and any review which does not say that a story is OMG PERFECT can be removed at the author's request.
A very good site for writers. Very entertaining and addictive.
There are some stories with adult content. But there is a rating system, just follow that.
I have also heard that the ads can put bad viruses on your computer without even a click. They do provide an ad blocker, but you have to go back everyday for it to be effective. But if you have Adblock Plus or another ad blocker then you will be fine.
Very entertaining - features a wide variety of fanfictions for almost anything you can think of! It can have inappropriate content HOWEVER this is indicated by the ratings (although standard Amercian) so you are warned before choosing to read it.
A LOT of cyberbullying, flaming, and trolling goes on here, and the moderators refuse to do anything about it because they're so lazy and useless, and they don't care about the site. It's loaded with porn and illegal content. Nothing whatsoever is done to protect your children's safety. In fact, personal information is all over the place...I've seen kids giving out their e-mail addresses and PHONE NUMBERS (both of which can easily be used to find out your child's real name and EXACTLY where they live) on this site! Not to mention annoying ads. You're better off writing your fanfictions on LiveJournal or DeviantArt or Wikia or Quizilla or Blogspot or whatever.
