I dont completely agree with VoodooSquirrel. Before adding any website to its search engine, Google follows very stringent screening process. It's known as AdSense. The websites willing to add themselves to Google Web search have to pass through many scrutiny-based steps before they finally make it!

google works hard to have the 'appearance of privacy' but their privacy policies are seriously flawed (such as caching a link to every site you visit, their ToS basically saying they'll give your information to whomever they want, etc)

Safe site, nothing bad at all unless searching, which can come up with either good, safe sites, or damaging, horrible sites.

Unfortunately, its a search engine so its safety is subjective, since it links to everything its great, but since it does link to everything its also dangerous.
