Is imvu.com Safe?

IMVU used to be a virus owned by malware distributing company, MyWebSearch. In recent years it is no longer a virus but it's toolbar is very difficult to remove and very annoying. It appears in pop-ups too and still litters the internet. Although a very good place for teenagers to interact, learn how to program, and so forth, it is not advised for children under 16.

From March 2012 to July 2012 I received a total of 162 unsolicited email (SPAM) messages from *@imvu.com; including an odd "Happy Birthday from IMVU!" from no-reply@imvu.com, dated March 2012, and a message from verify@imvu.com, also dated March 2012, asking me to verify my e-mail with IMVU (a service I haven't signed up for!). Intensive spamming continued without any confirmation from me.

It's a good website at the best of times, the customer service is satisfactory however as with similar websites they greed after our money! hiring the prices for credits just as Clubpenguin have. This website is in no way safe for children due to the nature of the content. The website is apparently for teenagers but the age limit quite carelesly goes up to 99 years old,which to be frank is ridculous. This website is not safe for children because as explained the content but also the users; there is a lot of e dating and flirting in the rooms and adult content in these rooms e.g. strip club rooms ,single hangouts. Entirely inappropriate.

Everything is VIRTUAL. Its a funny website and get good laughs. Want to go to the beach? Your'e there. Want to go to the mountains? You're there. Want to go to the moon? You're there. All Virtual. Its unique and great characters come across.... also why was Superman sitting at the beach talking to Optimus Prime and that Alien Predator guy swinging on that swing set in that one room? Man that was messed up, couldnt help laughing. You can pretty much be whatever character you want.

It is a really fun website, for i play it and i know that there is only ONE yes i repeat ONE bad part. Some of the chat rooms are not appropriate. But, most of the chat rooms are just about dancing and stuff like that. Trust me IMVU is a GREAT website.

this web site makes your computer a little slow but dont delete it i love this website! also the only other thing is the ads on other places like ***** or ***** i mean kids get on there and imvu says dressup and kids will not know they have sex craved and predotors and stalkers and creeps on there they just think its dress up! but also the log-in box pops up after you re-boot or re-start you laptop or desktop or tablet or phone ect. but otherwise i LUVVV! It! but its just my opion,,,,,, kasey

I can see where some people may not Get It. But really folks it's just fun. I enjoy the role playing. I like the whole dress-up experience. This site gives us a chance to play !! Just be who ever you want to be, act as good or as naughty as you want to, it's just good clean fun. No strings. If you're sensitive to adult content, just go back to Face Book.

I've used this since 2009. The only reason people may believe it is unsafe is due to the numerous adds. It's completely safe. I would recommend this site to others, just not to children. Many users are "mature." There are still many others that are helpful.

In a nutshell, IMVU is a 3D chat site. Like any chatroom environment, there are good rooms, bad rooms and good users and users to avoid. While IMVU is entertaining, it's not a place for children or people that don't know how to protect their computers and identity on the internet. IMVU itself won't hurt you or your computer but there are a few problem users, as there are on any social website. Customer service is a nightmare. If you have any problem at all, the odds of it being fixed are very slim. Customer service has severe communication issues and will often not even read an entire report before sending a copied and pasted response that, most of the time, isn't even relevant to the issue at hand. What's even worse is that the staff is becoming more and more restrictive upon the users, taking away features and raising prices on absolutely everything they can.
