Is linkedin.com Safe?

i am amazed that Linkedin is still getting THE GREEN good rating? as long as you keep using THE FREE services all is good. But be warned, if you use the PREMIUM SERVICE upgrade for $30/mo you will regret it. I can't believe this site is the industry standard, used among pro recruiters and job hunters. The premium service (I used 1 mo. at $30) only offers the upgrade of (5) five In-Mails per month to a recruiter or similar. What a joke! Make sure you read the details. LI offers no phone support, the cust. svc. is horrible. Pull up reviews on any search engine and you will see the complaints. Cust. svc. takes days to reply to an email. The site itself is designed to make it extremely difficult to find any information on how to contact cust. svc. Many professional IT people can't even figure it out! This is all done on purpose to boost profits for LI. Also, there is no way to turn off AUTO-RENEW PAYMENT. This site subscribes to that ripoff strategy of hoping all will forget to turn off the auto-renew pay at 30 days. The only option offered is CANCEL premium svc., and when you do this you turn off all the benefits of the premium service? Premium svc. upgrade is a total waste of money, not to mention the 1 to 2 hours of stress you get from trying to contact cust. svc. to stop them from ripping you off. As a marketing/network instrument for a more adult group this site shouldn't have been rated 'excellent' for the group 'children'. Especially because the group of 'children' isn't be more precise determined. The site 'linkedIn' could be described as 'good' for those who are more aware of the dangers of online networking. One of the dangers is that the visitor more time spent into following others, instead of living the own live.

There are a lot of people blaming Linked-In for Spamming, but the only Spam I get that appears to come from Linked-In is not from them but from a Phisher. You only have to hover over the links in your email program (do not click the links) to find this out. If the email that "appears" to be from Linked-In has an attachment, then don't open it - it's almost certainly not from them, but from an illegal source. You can't really blame Linked-In for this. (P.S. I get these scam emails to email addresses that I haven't subscribed to Linked-In with, so that's another clue that they haven't come from this organisation). I get genuine emails from Linked-In usually to do with links-ups (invites or ones that I've initiated); and other emails where I've subscribed to a group. Downsides are the site advertising and the fact they try to get you to signup to see who's looked at your profile. Just resist and keep to the basic (free) package unless you need something specific from the paid-for packages.

I got unknowingly subscribed to Linkedin out of the blue probably when downloading an update to some free software. It was telling me that people who knew me wanted to make contact. I did not recognize any of their names. I unsubscribed almost immediately. But I still receive junk mail that I'm filtering into my Junk folder.

I find it good to be able to link with members that have the same professions or same interests as I do. I have had computer problems and connected with people that work on and with computers and got the information that I need to fix my problem. It also is a place where you can share your thoughts, beliefs, or opinions and get others points of view.

Les faits : Bien que je ne me sois JAMAIS abonné à ce service, que je n'ai fait AUCUNE demande et n'ai jamais transmis mon adresse émail à linkedin, je reçois régulièrement des sollications et rappels. J'ai alors à plusieurs reprises cliqué sur le lien pour "me désabonner" (alors que je ne suis pas abonné) et ne plus recevoir leur "invitation". Quelques semaines plus tard, sur la même adresse émails, je recevais à nouveau des sollicatations. Il s'agit donc bien d'une plate-forme à l'éthique douteuse qui pratique le SPAM.
