Is microsoft.com Safe?

Please beware of downloading the Direct X file. This is the link: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35 I typed in a search engine for Direct X to download. Thinking this was a safe download from Microsoft, I proceeded. After installation, my antivirus was shut off and other programs were installed. If a person were to type in Direct X in a search engine one of the first links to come up is this website (link provided). If he or she were to look at the post date it was from April 18, 2011. Please beware. All I did was search Direct X and download what was the microsoft website and received a threat (virus/ trojan). Once I was able to remove the installation no more problems (lag, antivirus shut off, and other programs automatically installing) were present. This was the source of the issue.

***** With this, Microsoft interferes also my private remote usage connections. I'm paying usage of this service, so I should to be also allowed to use it! I tried to contact Microsoft support to get my No-IP service to working sooner, but all I get was link to their totally useless blog about killing bad bot-nets, and it didn't even mention this scandal or how it will get fixed. As there was not any repairing schedule, I end up to fix this problem by changing the domain name of my host to another. Unfortunately, there was also some problems with new openssl when I created new certificates, so I wasted 3 hours of my precious summer vacation to it. Big damn thank you, Microsoft!

this site was infected with: MalSign.Generic.834 i had to kill five infections. not pleased at all. have informed the website. will be interesting to see how long it takes them to get it off.
