I am new over here and I could really use some great reviews myself so here we go... There are so many scammers out there in the web world and I must admit that I really thought this was another scam as well... Very useful site and a wonderful new refreshing approach to webaniring....

We tell you how much other people trust websites. Unfortunately, they don't seem to trust multi-level marketing that often.
Fantastic website, promoting security and privacy. Also, providing a recomendation on this website feels like the movie Inception.

Horrible website, an absolute disgrace. The site is completely useless because there is no moderation or verification of ratings, it's just a pure mobocracy, mostly run by 14 year old poly-sexual socialist teenage Pokemon fans with little to no morals, critical thought, social skills - and a strong affinity for Japanese cartoon porn. It's like Wikipedia, except even less reliable and moderated. Okay yeah, that was a little colorful, but my review is about to get serious: ----- The concept of Web of Trust is to rate the security of WEBSITES based on 4 ratings: overall trustworthiness (ex. viruses phising scams, etc), vendor reliability (ex. financial scams), privacy (ex. spyware, adware), and child safety (ex. violent or adult content). The problem here is that the site is not used to fulfill its intended purpose - what the users usually do is just give any site that they dislike a bad rating in all 4 categories. For example, if a user has a problem with an online vendor, instead of just giving a poor rating in the "vendor reliability category", they will give it a poor rating in all 4 categories (such as child safety, even though the site contains no adult content). This destroys the purpose of even having 4 categories - they should just erase all 4 and lump them into 1 at this point. For example Here's a general list of their bias: *Political or religious websites, especially conservative or Christian websites. You'll often find websites which promote a political or religious view flagged by those who disagree with them, while the overall POV being pushed by WOT e is liberal/socialist/atheist - it's not exclusive - for example, a website critical of the Koran was at one point false flagged as dangerous by Muslim users, while an atheist website was flagged with negative reviews by fundamentalist Christians, etc - this is the problem right here - if enough users agree on something, no matter how false it is, then it becomes "true" according to WOT's lax standards. Nevermind that the purpose of WOT is to rate WEBSITES THEMSELVES, not the "correctness" or "ethics" of political and religious groups. So if the majority of users happen to decide that your website hosts child porn, then all they have to do is flag your website and write that as a review - and if enough users "thumb up" their comments, then it'll be stated as fact on WOT - the mods don't care whether it's true or not as long as the mob agrees. Examples of websites with false ratings reviews: Pat Robertson's official website, Fox News official website, Christian Post, Church of Scientology official website, WorldNetDaily, Communist Party USA official website, Conservapedia, etc *Websites related to copyright (ex. RIAA) - The socialist teens hate the idea of having to pay for the music and movies they steal, so they'll false flag websites such as the RIAA as having viruses, having "adult content", etc *Payday loan and cash advance websites - will often be rated poorly because the users believe the payday loan industry itself is a "scam", not because the websites are actually dangerous or engage in phishing. *Sites related to infomercial products, paid online surveys, online savings clubs/free trials, etc - many will be rated as "scams" simply because the users dislike the product or service, not because the website itself engages in any actual scamming - many of these offers do exactly what they say they do, if you don't like the product or service, that doesn't mean it's a "scam" or that their website is bad. *Inaccurate reviews in general - due to the lack of moderation, there are many inaccurate and outright false reviews on the whole, which is ironic coming from a website called "Web of TRUST", because the site is totally untrustworthy. Often you will also find a website with a "poor" rating, but no reason given at all in the comments. For example, there was a site about motorcycles which I visited before which had a poor rating due to accusations of malware. Apparently a hacker had uploaded Malware to the site at one point, but it was since removed. And since being a WOT reviewer requires no facts, this perfectly safe website is now still flagged as a "malware site" due to the actions of one hacker. *Censorship - Finally, aside from giving many false reviews and ratings, the WOT trolls will also frequently "thumb down" perfectly legitimate reviews, just because they disagree with them. For example, several users had written reviews of Wikipedia simply stating that the website contains adult content - which is a fact. Wikipedia contains many uncensored pornographic and violent images - but some WOT trolls who happened to be fans of Wikipedia took issue to anything remotely critical of their favorite website, and "thumbed down" these reviews simply for that reason, even though they were completely factual. If a review receives too many thumbs down, then it completely disappears from view. In conclusion, this site is next to useless unless you want a vitural "Big Brother' telling you what information is "safe" and what isn't.. It is basically just a online role-playing game for socially awkard Marxist anime fans who think they're part of some "social revolution" just because they spend 18 hours a day writing false reviews on some useless website. They even had issue with negative reviews of their sevice being left on Webutation, and some trolls came over here and thumbed down all the critical reviews. A ,much better service is AVG SafeSearch or McAfee

WOT tells you how much other people trust websites, it's not only about security. Judging from the ridiculous insults towards imaginary users, it seems they don't always agree with you. You may want to learn a bit more about how the rating system works before drawing too many conclusions though. You can start by reading the FAQ, and don't forget to read the section that explains the differences between ratings and comments: http://www.mywot.com/wiki/FAQ

I have no idea what you mean by "stuffs its comment box", but if you feel your site has been unfairly rated by other people, follow the "Click here if you own this site" link on the scorecard and request a review. Otherwise, please mind your language.
