Is mywot.com Safe?

Some users (with silver and platinum membership included) seem to classify websites inappropriately or have a near 100% very short bad comments/reviews on websites which seem to indicate more of a rush on the classification itself with minimal explanation and questionable methodology. Also, rating the websites appropriately doesn't undo the mess that has been created. For this reason and with knowledge of cases where good sites have their ratings messed up (and I mean pretty badly), I'm obliged to classify its content and, in particular, its rating system questionable due to the activity of these 'comment/bad reviewer spammers'.

I deleted my last post as it was way too long winded for it's own good. I think this site is providing an Invaluable service, but I have seen the mass rating tool abused by a few people, it's just an observation. And I feel they should think about addressing it.

All ratings should be taken with a grain of salt, really, but WOT is better than nothing. The community has usually been more honest in my experience than not, but there's also some flaws with the site that cannot be fixed. Intentional misratings, sites having no ratings or comments, or sites that just can't be rated properly (such as sites that inherit a rating). There's also the occasions where a site is infected with malware, but is ordinarily reliable. Better safe than sorry, though. At least worth it for viruses, because people are pretty good about reporting on viruses. That way, you can at least know to check for them if a comment reports on having extracted a virus. Although considering the amazingly stupid uproar about the Trust Seals when they came out, you have to wonder if the community is entirely competent enough to trust sometimes.
