Is play.spotify.com Safe?

This site uses pop-ups when you try to leave their site and web bugs. The site owners also help drive down the already tiny profit margins of musicians, resulting in less profit for the people that create the music: Per Gabriel Kahane on facebook: "I recently received a royalty check from Spotify for $17.23 for 38,809 plays, which is the equivalent of roughly 3880 full album spins. By contrast, when I sell a CD or LP on Bandcamp, the gross is $15 or 18, respectively. After factoring in manufacturing costs, Bandcamp's 10% cut, and shipping and handling, it takes me just TWO sales to achieve the $17.23 I got from Spotify for those 38,809 plays. We, my husband and I joined up last weekend. I went for the paid free option as we were interested in seeing how it works. We tried to set up my husband with an account and we were informed that 1: they do not offer Canadians a family plan - even though this company is based in Canada; 2: a member can only use a credit card once, even though it can be billed multiple times. Also, they have offline play lists claiming to be 9,999 songs; however, it must be split up three ways. If you do not have 3 devices, then you are S.O.L. You are only allowed 3,333 songs per device. We attempted to end my free trial account. I had to jump through hoops to do that and then more hoops to end the free account. I also informed them that a number of their songs were listed improperly and that they had the wrong artist attached to a number of their songs. Their response was: "It is listed this way on other sites as well." I was not interested in other sites, I was interested in the site that they wanted to have me as a member! They would not accept responsibility for their own mistakes. That is just so wrong. I had received three emails from them asking and in my opinion, begging me to come back to them. My husband experienced the same thing. I had cited to them ALL of the reasons that I wanted to end my account with them and I am still receiving emails. This is SPAM! This is harassment. After all was said and done, they had the nerve to send me a request to rate their customer service! No, I would never recommend Spotify to anyone.

This music site is great. I 100% trust this site's safety. However, child safety should always be taken into account. There are artists that produce music that may be inappropriate for young audiences. They may present explicit words or meanings, or sexual or violent innuendos. So, while I trust the safety of the site, a child should be cautious on what music and artists they follow on this site.
