Is quibids.com Safe?

People looking to get something for nothing will not like this site. Quibids explains it's system very well if you take the time to understand how it works. If you bid on items you are truly interested in owning and lose you can use the money invested in auction to buy item, and if you win you generally get a very good deal.

A group of individuals have went through and "rated" EVERY SINGLE penny auction site, penny auction forum, and even a site that just collects the statistics for PA sites, as poor. This lends very poor credibility to WOT. These ratings are not honest, nor rated by individuals with ANY knowledge of those sites! Shameful. I may not like a few of the sites, but they are all owned by different people and ran differently, just like any other business is, therefore, the ratings should be reflected based on the truth - not rate them ALL poorly! Facebook is rated as "good"? Seriously? There are hundreds of virus every day that users get from visiting that site and one category is child friendly. How is FB good for children with all of the porno, etc. on there??

Complete scam. You must pay for each bid (which can only be a penny increment over the highest current bid) as you engage in bid-wars with others, until one decides they've already lost too much. They drop out, and someone else decides to start bidding against you. To put this in perspective, there are 10,000 pennies in $100, every one of which someone has paid for when the price of an item goes up by that much. At $0.60/bid, if you're trying to win e.g. a TV or iPad, engaging in a back-and-forth bid war with someone that ends up raising the price of the item by $20 will cost $600 from each of you. Saw the QuiBids commercial advertising an iPad for $50? A MacBook Pro for $150? Those items have earned QuiBids $3000 and $9000 each, respectively. And after you've invested a few hundred dollars in bidding for an item, someone new can join bidding. After you've paid enough money just to place bids, the price you've paid can approach the actual retail price of the item. So you either bite the bullet and keep bidding so you don't lose your money (likely against someone who's just started bidding and who has thus invested far less than you, so they have more incentive to keep raising the price), or you just drop the sunk cost and get nothing in return for what you've paid to bid. In fact, all you've done is hurt the other people bidding since the item now costs a bit more than it already did, and QuiBids gets a little more icing on the cake from the cost of the item itself, in addition to the $100's they've already raked in from bidding alone.

Great site for entertaining if you have unlimited amounts of time to spend in front of a computer, have loads of money to spend on bids/possible won auctions, and enjoy fierce competition with others. While chances are evenly spread for everyone, often times the site is exploiting those hopeful of winning something/anything with the $100 they just spent to bid.

I work for QuiBids and can assure there are not any bots or shill bidding as it is against QuiBids' policy. Neither their employees nor their immediate family members are allowed to participate in the site. We've been accredited by the BBB since September of 2010 and have even been audited by a third party to verify our internal controls.

Site is SSL with valid Symantec seal. However, I have no idea how I arrived at this site, as I didn't enter the URL in my browser. I had never heard of the site before. I suspect it was a browser redirect, which I rarely experience and consider a slimy practice. Be careful here.
