Whoahhh horsey! Like hell if people should have to give away this much information to use the site!
This is a business model that the public must crush and stamp out of existence! TERRIBLE!!!
I don't think by forcing users to consent to share their contacts, profile, and email ID etc. just to read questions/answers makes any sense. How they can even think that to read about an answer I would be willing to share all my contacts. If people are sharing that... good luck...
Forcing users to register is extremely annoying. I'll be blocking this website from now on. I don't want sites like this to show up highly in the search engine result lists anymore.
Quora is an interesting website but be warned if you answer questions or follow questions you will get hundreds of emails & alerts every time some else answers a question you get more emails and alerts. There is no obvious or realistic way to turn off the notifications on the Quora page. Could be a nice place but it will drive you crazy.
Best quality and accuracy of answers of any Q&A site. Best formatted answers. Best moderation. Most scientifically and technically accurate.
Rewards thoughtful, well-researched and insightful answers instead of the fastest answer.
Other sites moderators include global warming denialists on the GW and alternative energy sections. (e.g. Wiki Answers). By comparison, the minor foibles of Quora moderators are an occasional mosquito bite on a glorious summer day by the beach.

"send a scan or photo of your legal identification to mailto:moderation@quora.com to confirm that this is your full real name"
This is horrifically INAPPROPRIATE. Read warnings about this kind of NEFARIOUS behaviour from US-CERT

The kind of people who request copies of state ID over the internet like this ARE ALWAYS SCAMMERS
