Is roblox.com Safe?

I joined ROBLOX on September 17, 2012. I have to say that I have had some ups and downs, but this site is my childhood. I remember my first day. There were less people with builders club, Tickets/Tix still existed in ROBLOX (It shall be engraved in my mind forever as a great memory.) I remember the less harsh community, and people didn't judge as much. Even though I reminisce about old ROBLOX, I am still happy with the ROBLOX we have now. For example, there are better games now then there were back then, but it was fun to be one of the first people to play certain games that are now really popular. This is a really great website but there is a lot of scamming for accounts going on, which is called "Free Robux" which isn't possible to get. There are also lots of mean people, and they make fun of people because they don't have robux. There is a lot of spamming, And lots of games have this operation called "Switch & Bait scam" which makes a misleading title and thumbnail, but the game never changes or the title/thumbnail. There are also child predators and if you search Roblox in news you will see how they say there are child predators. Roblox is still a fun game for kids to have a great childhood and enjoy things.

I say good site, rate it good as well as giving a negative reason. The child safety is not 100% due to the fact there are many scammers. Make sure your child is aware of this and that there is no way of getting free ROBUX, a virtual currency, other than creating things within the game. If your child knows this, it is definitely suitable.

Facts are, users who are 13+ (or claim to be 13+ by lying about their birthdate on the signup page) have blacklist filters, which filter some things, but using spaces normally fools both the blacklist and whitelist (<13) filters. also, reporting users does nothing. people can use suggestive themes, and, as the youtube channel "micheal P." demonstrated, even place creators can circumvent roblox filtering measures.

Roblox veteran here. I've been on the site since early 2012, and while I trust the site, I do NOT recommend you let your kids join. Right now, the community is in, my opinion, a civil war. The moderators do not do their jobs like they should, the staff roll out awful updates, and the community itself is brutal. I speak from experience. When your kid joins, they will be given very ugly items and pretty much thrown into the deep end. The older players will bully them for their join date and appearance. Harass them because they have no clue what to do. Torment them and gossip to others about them. I have seen kids driven to tears because of the community. And guess what? Aside from blanked out chat and maybe, juuust maybe, a ban for it, the mods don't do diddly. All the staff care about is the money. Spoiler, the biggest age bracket? Its now 16 and up, maybe a few hundred 15s. Yeah. On any given server, anyone that has near perfect grammar, spelling, punctuation, and capitalization is at least over 15. Oh, did I mention that there is very skimpy clothing in the catalog? Because there is. Just saying. And the nightclub games that technically have alcohol props in them, should I mention the Adopt A Kid games? Yeah, seems innocent. It isn't. Also at least twice a year there is an outbreak of sex games that proudly display the whole 9 yards. Hopefully your kid won't log on when they happen, thankfully they only stay up for about 5 or so hours. And the forums. That place is almost completely feral. Lets not forget the Free Robux scams that hack your kid's account! Pro tip: Set messages to Friends Only and tell them DO NOT accept random friend requests. Good rule of thumb: Only accept friend requests from people they've talked too for AT LEAST 10 minutes. You want my advice? Let your kid join a different site, or if you're dead set on letting Junior join Roblox, keep them out of the forum, lock chat, put Receive messages to Friends Only, and once they are 13 sit them down, explain that Roblox is brutal and will most likely cause hurt feelings. And seriously. Stay out of the bloody forum.

For the Older Users,you can build your own game/place, using the studio tool. The game can teach you how to code, using the LUA programing language(which is based off C++). you can promote your game, you can also earn real money off the game(through the DevEx program) Note To Parents: In order to play games on Roblox, you must Sign Up using a Email Address. you can set parental controls if you set it up. the game requires you to download Roblox Launcher before you can play. Roblox is Kids Safe listed under COPPA(link posted below). Parental rating(in my Opinion) 10+ the game is great for Kids. however, There are First Person Shooter games on roblox so if you are not comfortable with you kids shooting simulated weapons. keep a watch in them. there is a chat feature in Roblox, but it's automatically disabled for users under 12 years old. (you can disable/enable it yourself). there Is a lso Premium Membership on roblox (Builders Club).
