I love this game so much, and I can't wait until the new Skill!!! I've been playing it for 10 years... And it's 11 years old, including RuneScape Classic. Don't click the ads! JaGex does not guarantee your safety when it comes to those ads. At least, I don't think they guarantee it. I wouldn't, if I were them.

I have to disagree with you Security_Wiz. I'm a moderator on Runescape, which means I watch out for scammers and spammers on the game. It's a time consuming but good job. Anyway, Runescape uses a VERY powerful hack shield, so it's nearly impossible to break in. The software is updated constantly. You should be able to feel safe on Runescape, just don't click the ads.

It is unknown but RUNESCAPE installs a javascript virus in your appdata/jagexcache32/runescape folder... antiviruses will REFUSE to check the app data folder as it is a hidden folder. it is reliabale, and child safety, yet it puts cookies on your computer... im afraid this isnt a good site to be on, or at least play the game.
