Their privacy policy is quite vague. It’s also unclear what rights you give Automattic to your notes. Support won’t answer direct questions on the matter.

I've used this app and site for two years now, and this must be the first time I've noticed WOT has yellow-lit it. This is not only a perfectly safe and clean site, it's a very useful and well-designed note-taking program.

I must admit, I do use simplenote.com and truth be told, I thoroughly enjoy it. It's lovely. Splendid app; absolutely astounding, I dare say. Try it.
Oh, also: maybe it was a bad site before, maybe a very very bad site, but it seems legit now. Majority of WoTters agree. There's even an API. The site says "Automattic" at the bottom, and links to Automattic (the Wordpress/Disqus guys)

Domain name formerly used fro spam acquired by legitimate (and useful!) business. The actual app is on another domain that's been in use for some time, so don't be afraid to follow the sign-in link.

Simplenote appear to have acquired this domain. Formerly this domain seemed to be a spam site, and the real simplenote text note site was simplenoteapp.com. It appears to have changed and so far as I can tell, simplenote.com is now legit.

Simple Note is one of the best sites I ever used. The change from ***** to simplenote.com pick up the bad reputation of simplenote.com, but, this site is Safe. All the best!
