I think that this company should be sued for handling data against GDPR. They seems not to respect the request to delete the personal data and claim to never delete it. Stay away for privacy ignorant companies like this.

It's just a service that converts regular links into affiliate links.

This link is misleading. It is pretending to be a news link but is not. The user feels manipulated.

I'm the CEO of this company - what we do is completely safe. We help websites earn a revenue stream for their content, but we do it in a way that isn't intrusive to your user experience. We have taken active steps to address any issues raised here, and would appreciate our rating being revised accordingly, as it is affecting our ability to do legitimate business.

This is on wordpress without people installing it so I did not know what it was. I guess it is affiliate marketing but does not gather identifiable information. This is what someone said from their corporation: "Skimlinks is a technology that helps online publishers earn from their content. When they put normal links into their blog posts or articles, Skimlinks allows them to earn from those links. When a user clicks on a link, and goes through to buy something on the other side, the Skimlinks technology picks it up and makes sure the publisher is rewarded for creating that sale. This is affiliate marketing made simple for publishers, and often times, many affiliate marketing businesses will be picked up by some strict security systems. We do not, however, pick up any identifiable data from the user, or pose any security risks. Big names, such as Wordpress only use the best, and they trust us with their bloggers" So after more research, I have decided to change my rating from "Spyware or adware" to "other" because the owner is working on rectifying the security issues with SSL/ HTTPS here ***** Reason for not green is it was listed on http://hosts-file.net/?s=skimlinks.com before and still is. Reason it was listed was: "sites engaged in malware distribution This classification is assigned to website's engaged in the distribution of malware (e.g. adware, spyware, trojans and viruses etc). Sites with this classification typically either contain files (e.g. cracks, keygens, adware, spyware, trojans, viruses et al) or lead to such via (for example) "fake scanners" or other social engineering and misleading tactics." It was reported by MysteryFCM who is a reputable scam fighter and owner of ***** That information was also shared here: http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/skimlinks.com/msgpage

Hi Guys Just wanted to give some info to anyone landing here. We are an advertising software company and one the domains we use (skimlinks.com) has been falsely listed as poor reputation here. Sub domains of the domain are used a part redirection service and could be linked to any number of of potential threats but it is not a threat itself, in much the same as Search Engines or URL shortening services could be. In particular he have noted that in the past, some of forums running our software have linked to sites that are blacklisted by some threat detectors If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me straight away by email.
