This site does not function properly in either Firefox or Opera, which is unbelievably negligent. Much of it is filled with pretentious conservative editorializing that is a waste of the informed citizen's time.

Slightly to the left of Karl Marx politically, but generally well-written and enjoyable web content. I'd strongly recommend using AdBlock or Spybot S&D, though---Slate's not above using web bugs and other minor tracking features.
