For people unexperienced with building websites, the webs sitebuilder is an excellent tool. However, back in the days I couldn't build a website myself yet, mine somehow got bugged so I could no longer edit the front page (that's why I started building stuff myself).
I must agree with the ethical issues because of the limited control over stuff like privacy and various scripts automatically added to each page.
I was also quite disappointed by the strong limitations customers experience.
I would not use it for paid hosting since I am sure there are better alternatives around. Their free hosting plans are really good for starters though.

Best ever free website hosting! No ads! Love it! The templates could be improved a little, and if you really want to make an official website, 1and1.com is obviously a better bet, but for someone who is disgusted with sites like blogger, weebly, and tripod and other rubbish free web-hosts, webs EXCEEDS expectations. You will LOVE webs just like I did. My website (runescapep2p.webs.com), which I quit a while back (only made like 5 guides) is an example of a 'gamer' website you can make on webs. VERY VERY GOOD. Go webs!

This is one of the best WYSIWYG free web programs on the net. No-Nonsense, great add-ons, not alot of adware, or ads of any kind period. Plus as far as I know there's no limit to the amount of sites you build using this free program, although I have used different screenames for each one. And if you do end up building a site that gets big and uses a lot of space (and I mean alot-over 125pgs- the fees annually are next to nothing.

its a great site and i use it frequently but you have to be carefull some site made using this site and parts of this site like the forum may not be child freindly

An OK website hosting service, but a lot of features are only Premium (which means you have to pay), such as the site stats (there is a free trial though).
There is also an HTML version of the hosting which allows you to host your own HTML files, but requires you to put "Created by Webs.com" or similar on your site.
I do not recommend it for professional or HTML sites.
The site itself is safe and contains no malware as what I have seen.

None of the free site templates offers links to webs.com privacy policy or terms of use/service when people register to hosted site facilities such as the forum or blog. Also, this site offers it's hosted site admins many "features" such as widgets which plague the visitor with an enormous amount of tracking and advertising cookies along with Local Shared Objects (LSO)

webs.com dynamically generates site features as selected by the site admin. They can also dynamically generate a responsible Terms of use / service and Privacy Policy for each hosted site as well, but they choose not to do so. :(

Arguably the most well-known free website creator. The service is pretty good and there are a handy amount of features, so you won't get bored any time soon.
The website is also safe, so don't worry about any security flaws.

One of the better website-hosting and website making options out there, Webs (formerly FreeWebs) is pretty much all I ever use to make new websites - well, that and hard-coding with DreamWeaver and similar software. There's a lot of options for even a free website - blogs, photo albums (be careful what you put in the albums if you use this feature), guestbooks and more. Be aware that some features - such as having your own domain - require money, but these extras certainly aren't necessary to create an entertaining, informative, and useful website.

Subdomain vhdvault.webs.com is a crap-laden imitation of VHD.Weebly.com. Webs.com has some security faults which can allow malware to come up, and the vhdvault.webs.com is full of adware, plus it is an illegal copy of VHD.Weebly.com. Avoid Webs.com for your privacy and security.
