Zoeken is gratis, inzien niet. Vanaf 2 juli 2012 is de stichting Centraal Bureau voor Genealogie (CBG) aangesteld als exploitant van WieWasWie.nl. De stichting CBG liet veel door vrijwilligers doen in het verleden en probeert dat werk nu vaak commercieel door te verkopen. De overname van GenLias door CBG is dan ook een slechte zaak voor toegankelijkheid van wettelijk publieke archieven. Daarbij staat de stichting CBG niet bekend om klantvriendelijkheid of servicegerichtheid. Dit is recent wat verbeterd maar de nogal agressieve commerciële toer van deze stichting die groot geworden is door veel vrijwilligerswerk is een echte afknapper. De overname kan dan ook niet anders beoordeeld worden als bezuiniging. Verwacht niet dat CBG ooit meer zal bieden dan zij op dit moment prijsgeven. Zij wensen voor alles geld.
