Zopim offers a popular live chat software that's used by tens of thousands of sites worldwide. We view privacy issues very seriously, and would like a chance to work with the community at large to make the Internet a safe place where private information is treated respectfully, and responsibly.
Regarding the issue of Local Shared Objects (LSOs), we are aware that LSOs are commonly used by many undesirable sites to track users insidiously. But we object to the bundling of all companies that uses LSOs, as spyware. What our company does with LSOs is similar to what all major companies do with regular browser cookies.
It is however true that LSOs are less understood by web users, and also harder to get rid off. In light of that, we are considering terminating the use of LSOs, and using regular Browser cookies instead. In the meantime, we've updated our privacy policy (http://www.zopim.com/privacy ) to clarify how LSOs can be cleared, and also expressly providing a link to the Flash Settings Panel to facilitate this.
We look forward to your feedback on this issue
