The economy is booming in the rogue security software sector this year. PandaLabs reports that malware posing as antivirus software is spreading fast, with tens of millions of computers infected each month. Over the course of this year, they predict that that there will be up to 637,000 variants of bogus security software available, infecting as many as 35 million computers each month.
Essentially a rogue security program convinces the user that their computer is infected with malware, when it's really not, and the user agrees to install the software to remove the nonexistent threat. The duped user pays between $29 and $79, earning cybercriminals approximately $34 million per month through rogueware attacks.

Microsoft Security Essentials
Sun Aug 2 04:26:11 2009 od Yatti420I've been beta testing Microsoft Security Essentials.. Working very well!.. Seems rather lightweight doesn't interfere with comp usage pending on settings.. Default out of the box works very well.. Their is the official beta and the pre-beta torrent (which is a higher build number).. This will eventually be available free of charge for everybody to download running windows.. Highly recommended..
Peace

Wed Aug 5 10:34:40 2009 od FlyAquaThat sometimes happens, and even has happened to me before.
Simply resetting my default search engine helped me in my case, otherwise maybe you have to do a bigger cleanup...
What browser are you using?

Mon Aug 10 10:12:45 2009 od Alex Cross3 days ago a similar mallware got into my PC.It screwed everything from browser, desktop icons and background,it shut-off my internet connection and finally, did something with my monitor-to-pc case-connection so whenever i restarted my pc the monitor goes into stand-by mode and could not dunciton properly.I had to format my C:/ then erase that partition again, then format it again and then install my Window$ again.I spent 2 days on locating the problem and solution. Then i installed this WOT and i can say its nothing "OMG AWESOME SPECIAL" but it helps me allot in finding which sites that i visited are potencialy dangerous.
