Translate feature on WOT
Tue 11 Aug 2009 11:07:58 AM UTC — Deborah S.
A seemingly simple little addition to WOT will benefit our international community of users by turning the "Tower of Babel" into a "babel fish."
For scorecard comments and postings on the WOT blog and forum written in a different language than the site's language, we now have a "translate" link . All you do is click on the translate link once and it replaces the comment with a translation. Clicking it again restores the original comment. This clever addition uses the Google Translation API.
Many of the great ideas that have been implemented by WOT have come from our users. This one started with g7w on this forum post. Thanks g7w.
Let us know what you think (in any language!).

OK, let's try this...
Vielen Dank, das ist ein fantastisches neues Feature. Es wird nun noch leichter für Menschen sein, die nicht Englisch sprechen, aktiv bei WOT zu sein.
Thank you very much, this is an awesome new feature. It will now be even easier for people not speaking English to be active on WOT.
Muchas Grácias, este es una nueva función fantástica. De ahora, será más facil ser activo en WOT para gente que no habla inglés.
How about offering a feature asking the user of a different language whether to post a translation of his comment in the first place? This way some people could be more encouraged to reply.

OK, the German translator translates the English sentences, it does not translate the Spanish parts, and neither the Latin parts (Title, Last sentence and signature). The German sentences of course can't be translated into German.

Re: results
We assume the entire comment is written in the same language. If you mix languages, only one part will usually be translated, if any.

Because the translation might be complete gibberish, but there's still a chance that a native speaker happens to be around and can answer the question.
Auf jeden Fall ist dieses
Auf jeden Fall ist dieses Feature eine große Erleichterung, auch wenn der genaue Sinn eines Textes teilweise selbst nach der Übersetzung noch "erahnt" werden muss :-)
Vielen Dank dafür!
