Our developers work hard to stay ahead of browser updates so that you will never have to surf without WOT. But when was the last time you updated your browser?
Old and outdated browsers have a greater risk for Internet threats and don't follow new web development standards. Outdated browsers such as Internet Explorer 6 (released in 2001) don't follow current web standards which affects the quality of websites rendering; have security issues; are full of bugs; and are incompatible with much of the new technology on the Internet.
Find your browser version
- Open your browser
- Click on Help and then scroll down to About (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc.)
- The window that opens will show you which browser version you are using. If your version is older, it’s time to make a change.

Tue 26 Jan 2010 06:45:19 PM UTC — OicangiMy favorite browser is Firefox. I have been using it for about 10 years. I started to use it because it had tabs. When I worked with linux, I had a version for both OS (linux and windows). And now, I use it because I like it and I have no reason to change.
Sometimes, I use IExplorer because it’s more compatible with some sites like Hacienda (where you pay taxes in Spain).

Tue 26 Jan 2010 09:29:49 PM UTC — ABCRicMy favorite browser is Firefox. It's speed in loading pages and the ability to use extremely useful add-ons like AdBlock Plus and WebMail Notifier. I also think the interface is much better than IE's.
Sometimes I use Chrome too when I'm in a hurry because I have loaded Firefox with add-ons and takes long to start up. I also use it when I play multiple flash games and dividing them between browsers makes them run better.

Firefox does a better job of blocking banner ads that can lead to malicious sites with its Ad Block Plus Plug in. For banner ads to block in IE, even version 8, you often have to pay for them and the ones that are free are not very good.

Fri 29 Jan 2010 08:56:58 PM UTC — manooillI have all three downloaded on my PC. I use IE8, and Google Chrome the most though, IE for it's security and coloured tabs, Chrome for it's speed and the incognito mode. I know there is in private browsing in IE, but incognito sounds better, haha.

Then I use Google Chrome for it's speed...or I just try it out...

Not sure if 8 is as secure as Microsoft wants us to believe. Even if 8 turns out to be the most secure, I have spent years with FireFox, customizing it to the web experience that I wanted. It's like an old friend now.

Microsoft is extremely sluggish to fix vulnerabilities, keeping the knowledge about these under wraps for as long as possible "for reasons of security". This concern about security is only to protect their own business interests and not the security of the users. If there is a scandal (like the one with long-term un-fixed serious problems in IE7), Microsoft's solution is to announce a "New and Improved" version to be released "soon", the old maketing trick to fool users into a false sense of safety and expectations, that, as Microsoft's history proves with unfailing regularity, is designed to keep and improve market share by making unsubstantiated claims.
There is no software nowadays that can claimto be 100% flawless, but a high degree of honesty should be part of the package, and this is the most serious of the "missing features" in IE8 !

The press and SlashDot love to jump on Microsoft, so you will not hear about that fact very often. Under stress testing, Firefox is slower and consumes more memory than a comparably configured IE8. When the simple fact that there are more fully functioning site available to IE8 than Firefox, the choice is rather obvious.

And there lies the true beauty of Firefox, which guarantees easy recognition of issues and the vey fast reaction time for fixes. At least the flaws in Firefox become public quickly, and their true number is known, but can you honestly say that you know the real number of flaws in Internet Explorer? How do you know which ones were patched, an which ones ignored ?
The "functioning" web site saga has more to do with Microsoft's deviance from, than with Firefox's adherence to internationally agreed standards. It stems from the marketing strategy that aims to popularise propietary file formats and methods, thus creating a tie-in situation for the unwary user, who at a later time will be asked to pay extra for what was free to use previously. A shining example from the past was the battle about the Java platform that had been designed to be universally usable on any Java Virtual Machine, but Microsoft changed the code in such a way that only Wndows machines would be able to run applets that were created on Microsoft's version of Java. Microsoft was in clear breach of the licensing condition and duly lost the case, but this trend is continuing.
Another tie-in attempt is the "Microsoft Active Server" system that makes audio abv video streams compatible only with Microsoft's own players, effectively forcing users away from "Open Source" software. MS Active Server is totally unnecessary, as better streaming systems are in use worldwide.
The best way to stop such nonsense is to avoid non-compatible sites, reducing their traffic and ratings. The problem will fix itself.
