WOT Launches "WOT for Blogs" WordPress Plugin

Wordpress logo

Are you a blogger using WordPress technology for your blog?

Today sees the beta launch of a WOT plugin for Wordpress - the popular blogging platform/software.

The WOT for Blogs plugin adds WOT reputation symbols to posts and comments on your blog keeping you and your readers safe from any untrustworthy external links.

Install and give feedback

Installing the plugin is simple and can be done in one of two ways:

  • Search for "WOT for blogs" on your Wordpress Control Panel and it'll be the first result. Follow the instructions on the page.
  • Alternatively, you can download a zip file and upload that to your wordpress control panel.

And you're done.

We're releasing the plugin as a beta to get feedback from users and iron out any potential problems. Please let us know your feedback in the comments below!

Don't have WordPress?

If you're a blogger using some other technology than WordPress, you can add the WOT rating icons to your blog using the WOT widget. It does the same as the WordPress plugin but the installation requires a tiny bit of HTML coding.

Safe Surfing!

Awesome and thank you. :D Have installed it on my Blog and works great :)

Will WOT be considering expanding this addon to cover PhpBB, Joomla, Drupal and others?

Using an obese PC. I offer it a bit and it takes a megabyte.

Glad to hear it works. It's something I've thought about and would be fairly straightforward but at least with wordpress we have a non-complicated distribution channel where blog owners can just click install. With drupal/joomla/phpbb there's no such functionality built in so there's the complicated barrier of a user having to upload files or edit HTML.

I have found Joomla as easy as Wordpress when adding plugin's. PhpBB is another story though as this can be a rather complicated to those who are not familiar with File / CMS or HTML editing.

If you decide to release this for Joomla, I certainly would be very interested :D

RE: WOT Launches "WOT for Blogs" WordPress Plugin

I know there's a WOT mod for SMF 2.0 RC3, but since my site's forum uses SMF 2.0 RC4 I can't use it without some workarounds.

And thanks for the plugin, WOT, my site's blog has been getting spammed lately (don't worry, I have Akismet!) and this will help me differentiate the actual spam from the legit comments caught by Akismet (although, if the comment has some site nobody's heard of posted over and over again, it's obviously spam!)

RE: WOT Launches "WOT for Blogs" WordPress Plugin

I had been using the WOT widget for a while, but as I use a built in social bookmarking function with my theme, the WOT widget was mucking up the display a bit, and I couldn't rectify it completely, so it was removed.

I've just tested it on the site, and that previous issue has now been resolved, so thank you very much for taking the time to create this.

The only thing I would change though, is have ratings show for external links on static pages.

If you wanted to go even further with the plugin, include a settings page that gives the site owner more control over where ratings are made available, ie a checkbox for - show ratings for links on Posts,
    Show ratings for Comments
    Show ratings for Pages
Show ratings for links contained in widgets
    etc.

Good plugin though and shortly to be rated on WordPress ;)

RE: WOT Launches "WOT for Blogs" WordPress Plugin

Is there anyway for a similar functionality to be used on WordPress.com domains? WordPress.com domains can't add any Javascript, only plain HTML, so it isn't possible to use the widget or this plugin.
