Not standing still

Indeed, as active WOT community members have commented on the forum, we have had quite a lot of things going on at WOT. We have had people changes, experiments of business models and engaged into discussions about policy changes such as how ratings and comments are displayed together.

And that’s all in addition to the broadening scope of deploying WOT, as the mankind comes up with new ways to fool the Internet users.

So I understand that some community members may feel overwhelmed and try to find a larger story. Sorry to spoil a good angle but what’s really going on is another set of days in the life of a small, aspiring company.

Having said that, of course, having one of the Co-Founders go and pursue other opportunities outside WOT, is not just another day at the office. At the same time, all the farewell notes left to Sami Tolvanen – both privately and publicly – were highly appreciated to display gratitude for his contribution over the first eight years of WOT story.

So from now, we go forward with Timo Ala-Kleemola, the other Co-Founder, assuming officially both the CIO and CTO role. I, Juha-Pekka Sipponen (LinkedIn CV here), am the new CEO as of March 2014. I have been a part-time consultant with WOT since May 2013 so I do have a running start with the WOT fundamentals.

As for the other changes, I’d just say that we are not standing still. We are going to continue to focus on stay one step ahead of manipulators. We will try to make WOT a little more accommodating to those experiencing it the first time. We are going continue to improve our operative fundamentals. We are going to experiment this and that. The list goes on and on. As is should for small companies with a big mission. So expect changes to continue. But we’ll try to do them engaging with the community as much as possible.
