Though Elsevier represent a significant amount of scientific publishing, this company has serious issues with price gouging, a lack of peer review amongst various titles it maintains, deliberate placement of non-peer reviewed articles in periodicals for the purpose of promoting the interests of private companies, interference in various universities' self archived online pieces that were independently published. Additionally, this company has unduly lobbied against open publishing practices so as to preserve their virtual publishing monopoly. See: ***** Very untrustworthy.
