I just received phishing spam to the DEA (disposable email address) I gave only to HostGator.
I've contacted them and asked,
You've been hacked. Are you aware of having been hacked or is this news?
Support guy says he'll have the security team investigate. I wished 'em luck...
Hostgator.com is a good hosting company for the price. For those who do not get a lot traffic to their sites, you'll find their shared hosting services quite good. It's not great, but more than adequate. If you need dedicated, then I wouldn't recommend them. The reason is because they do get attacked (DOS attack) a lot due to their popularity. I would go elsewhere. But for the majority of web sites, hostgator provides a good service and very good prices. Their tech support (chat) is good but can't really help you with larger problems, such as hacking, etc. In which case, they will submit a support ticket on your behalf. But as I said, overall, they're a pretty good company and it'll be hard to find anyone better at their prices.
A good clean site. I've been looking for a good host, all the comments here have persuaded me to go with them.
Interesting there is only a few negative comments that don't make sense yet there are loads of 'disagreements' (Thumbs down) against positive comments. It would be interesting to know the reasons behind these.
I bought the hatching plan, and I got what a paid for. (I migrated from ByetHost.)
Infinite disk space, unlimited monthly bandwidth, free subdomains and email accounts (Considering you bought a domain) Fantastico Script installer is good for lazies and those who don't feel life configuring it themselves. Your email can even have anti spam measures set onto it! Hooray for HostGator, hooray for CPanel! The service is good, they are more generous than other free hosts, and they allow you to have almost any kind of site (they have to follow the law too.).
