eBay is as good as its buyers and sellers. The site itself tries hard to be safe.

I've been pretty happy with my purchases from this site. On this site, you are buying from multiple people so you have to be careful with who you buy from. The rating system works well to tell you who's a good seller and who isn't. Of course there is and will always be some people who will try to scam you. As I said before: Be careful.

I buy almost every month from someone on eBay. Has been flawless for years.

N-E-V-E-R buy flash drives (or any storage medium) off eBay, electronics are teeming with scammers. Made that mistake, and they never even had the real product. They also harrased (nicely) till hell froze over.

I love buying from this site. I purchased cookware, work pants, robes, purses, emergency gear and a lot of other items. It is great to do all my shopping in one place.
I usually use the Buy Now but I have done auctions.
You can communicate with the sellers easily and I have always found them to be helpful.

Ok, there is a lot of bad experiences, but it isn't ebays fault. You just have to be smart.

Abuse is tolerated by ebay, e.g. persons, who over-bid other bidders with a second unproved identity on their own auctions. Ebay-rules or ebay administration is not good enough to protect from abuse.
