False advertisements. Classmates ,reunions, and other events are announced, found to be untrue. Now they are recently manipulating unauthorized credit card transactions. By the way rates high on Alexa, due to enrollments, based on people being lured by deceitful leads.
This site is still good for a couple of old contacts every month. Just wish they would give up on charging when sites like Facebook have school classmate finders free of charge. I am afraid classmates is on the verge of being obsolete.
I joined years ago but have never used the site. Recently I unsubscribed yet they continue to send me email. Now in order to unsubscribe you have to log in and change your email preferences. No, now they are SPAM.
Hi I have just signed up from classmates.com and I used fake info. I used nowmymail.com to see whether or not they would send spam and what they would write inside it.So if you want proof follow me.
nowmymail.com is a disposable email address creator and it would delete itself in one hour.
Edited:
I used to think the people at Classmates.com were the ones charging my credit card without my authorization, but something occurred to me recently.
It's possible someone is using Classmates.com to check to see if the illegally or legally obtained credit card information is valid to use elsewhere.
The charge for obtaining a Classmates.com account maybe below a limit that raises any red flags and someone might be using it to test the waters before they go on a spending spree.
If you have similar problems with Classmates.com, you should take this up with the local law enforcement or even the FBI and not just in here.
Classmates.com might want to take some steps to verify the credit card information they're given isn't stolen.
If they do, I will remove the red mark against them.
These are companies that are engaged in trade of personal information in order for loyalty programs to impose charges.. This happens at the end of "Checkout" when it prompts you from email and then charges your credit card.. I am giving them all poor vendor and privacy scores.. This topic is covered on TWIT-222 ( 8 minutes in)... Loyalty companies are http://www.affiniongroup.com/ ,http://www.webloyalty.com/ or http://www.vertrue.com/
Unauthorized credit card charges via "fine print clauses" forcing you to purchase "loyalty agreements" with a company you never even heard of for the sake of generating more profit.

I am a gold member in classmates. I've been quite happy with this site. If you're getting pop-ups, block them. I don't get any. I've had no emails I didn't sign up for. I've had a lot of fun talking to people I new from my 1970 grad class.
Never give them your real email address! After quite a few attempts to get rid of all news feeds, info emails, canceling the free membership, still receiving unwanted mails.
